Could it be that some companies are simply waiting until Thursday which is traditionally the first day of regular NAMM?

It could just be that Clavia, a tiny company of three dozen employees, was hard-hit by Covid and the late reversal of Swedish politics, and simply haven't the capacity to churn out new products on a deadline at a time like this.

I can understand disappointment, but raging at a company for not announcing that they won't be announcing a product is just weird.

If the current lineup isn't appealing, then don't buy it.

Also, for reasons discussed in other threads, a Stage 3 EX may be unlikely, meaning we might be waiting for an update to the Stage line for a while more while they redesign around an entirely new hardware architecture.

Nord product lifecycles are comparatively long, particularly for newer innovations. As several have said here, the discontinuation of the DSP manufacture forces them into a whole new product architecture. We don't know how radical this is, as we are not privy to what's going on behind the scenes.

Kurzweil is a similar small company, albeit with a more trying history. There was a period where product cycles were VERY long. Even now, most of their product is extensive re-use of their "brand" technologies packaged up in different ways. Their product line is more evolutionary than revolutionary. Nord has been in a similar situation; they have several sound engines that they have evolved over time with enhancements and expansions.

You could look at companies like Arturia, Dave Smith/Sequential, Moog and Waldorf in much the same way.

The next step in the Nord product evolution could be just around the corner, or it could be some time away. No company is obligated to introduce new products every NAMM show. I'm sure that whatever they come up with next I will have to work hard to not purchase LOL!

On the "belive in music week" site, there's a "global product preview" live event tonight at 1am so maybe there's going to be something good then.

well, as some guys already said it here, why do we judge Clavia for not announcing new product after this tough year, 2020. I would better like to see them showing us great and powerful product with payable improvements than wishing that they announce product within their "known" schedule with just minor improvements. :D :D

With the pandemic I wouldn't be surprised if they made more sales than usual, the amount of people who picked up the piano in these last months is very high.

Also not judging, just saying I would have liked to see some new stuff from them since updates are due in the current lineup (also because then outdated keys go on sale)

Just remark @Rusty Mike, "As several have said here, the discontinuation of the DSP manufacture forces them into...."
The NS2 used the DSPB56367, an 150MHz DSP from Motorola/NXP, the NS3 uses the ADSP21489, an 450MHz DSP from Analog Devices. The first one was discontinued, the second, as I can see is in production. I think that the big hardware/software change was between the NS2 and NS3.

Thank you for the correction. I was not aware of this. I had interpreted the DSP news as impacting their entire product architecture.

nord is not obligated to release new products every namm
the nords are so versatile, the NS3 are miles ahead from others stage gigging keyboards
