Electro 2 Piano sounds
Just bought an Electro 2 used. Thought I'd be able to import better piano sounds but it seems that isn't the case. Need feedback on possible MIDI piano modules that I can connect for better grand piano sound.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I preferred the Kurzweil modules. It's really a matter of your touch & taste.

Re: Electro 2 Piano sounds
The GEM RP-X was one of the better piano modules. Another possibility could be the Roland XV-2020, with one of the optional SRX cards for better piano sounds. But these days, you might be better off going with something like iGrand or CMP Grand Piano running on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. Hardware modules still have the edge in latency, though.
A couple of things to keep in mind... the action of the E2 is never going to feel good for piano playing, and the E2 is very inflexible as a MIDI controller.

Re: Electro 2 Piano sounds
I just put the CMP Grand on an iphone and midi'd up to it through my electro 2. I'm blown away. I was thinking of upgrading to the electro 4 in the upcoming months, but now with this superb sounding piano for $18 on the itunes store, I'm putting it off.

Just curious - what happens if the phone rings or you get a text message? Is there an easy way to go into a mode where you can suppress audio from all sources except piano?afroskully wrote:I just put the CMP Grand on an iphone and midi'd up to it through my electro 2. With an Iphone putting it in airplane mode beforehand will suppress
the audio. I don't know about all the alerts and alarms that I have set up though.

But please tell me, how do you do that? How do you midi up your electro2 with an iPhone?

I don't know about iPhones (and don't want to), but iPad owners can purchase midi interfaces which will work with those devices. Perhaps they also work with iPhone?
