I see, yes I can see the old web page is there, just with the content removed. I guess we'll wait and see what happens there.

My gut feel which made me suggest the NP5 73 was that I have the impression that a weighted piano keybed would at least not hurt you or prevent you from playing what you want. I don‘t see you playing high speed Bach runnings or similar, not even fast Jordan Rudess or Jon Lord parts as you say you are a piano starter at this point.

To start with I think it‘ll help you prepare your fingers for whatever may attract you in future.

Cheers from rainy Germany

Edit: just to say it, the electro range does not give you the possibility to layer two sounds of the same engine, be it piano or synth samples.

As far as recording the P5, would it be possible to pan the piano hard right and the synth hard left then record the stereo signal that could be split to two mono tracks in a DAW?

I'm fairly sure it can not, but you can check the manual.
If this is important for you, Stage 3 is perfect for this, because you have 4 outputs instead of 2, and you can set one engine to be routed to an alternate set of outputs. No point in me writing more detailed about this because Mark has a great video for you:

Nord Stage 3 Output Setting Tutorial:

EDIT: you also asked if Stage 3 can play 2xPiano + 2xSynth at the same time and the answer is yes.

So I took the plunge and ordered a Piano 5 from Thomann.

As it will come with European power cord and I am located in Australia, can I simply use one of these common PC type IEC power cables?

Yes, sure, it is a standard IEC on NP5 as well.

Your power supply should be 230 V AC (50 Hz) as usually in Australia. The power socket is mechanically IEC 60320 C13 (for a C14 plug) - your photo looks like it should fit.

Thank you both for the replies. Thats good to know that its just a standard IEC cable. I have a few of those laying around.

My next challenge is going to be taking my Mellotron Micro and using the Sample Editor 4 software to save a bunch of my favourite Mellotron samples so I can upload them when the p% arrives. I'll probably then sell the Micro.

Any tips on sampling something like this with the Sample software?

No trust in the Nord Mellotron sample collection?

From what I understand the Sample Library 3 samples cannot be loaded into the P5 and that it only comes preloaded with a couple of Mellotron instruments.

Of course all should be well when the Sample Library 4 is released, but how long might that take, another 6 months? a year?

I want to hit the ground running with my Mellotron samples as I do love them.
