Fame (Irene Cara) sequencer sound?
Hi to all,
I'm new here on the forum. I'm thinking about buying a new keyboard. But I'm still trying to find out which one will suit my needs. I saw the Korg Kronos 2 - 88 and was impressed by the sounds it can produce ( It has a built-in sequencer. But what I see and read about is that it has a very steep learning curve. On the other hand I'm looking at the Nord Stage 3 and that's why I went to this forum after seeing many Youtube stuff. I like the concept of having many knobs to play with and it produces many great sounds too.
Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to create the continuous loop in the song Fame from Irene Cara. There is a guy on Youtube who generates this sound with on old analog sequencer ( I know that the Stage 3 doesn't have a sequencer, but maybe this sound can be generated with the arpeggiator. Or am I completely wrong?
Greetz,
Marco

Hello, welcome to the Forum! I love my Stage 3 and the ease of programming. Here's the sequencer sound using the arpeggiator as you noted. Rather than playing it manually, you could just import this into the Nord Sample Editor and create a Sample of it looped. If you haven't yet, download the Nord Sample Editor ( https://www.nordkeyboards.com/software- ... e-editor-3 ) and see how easy it will be for you to create samples for your Stage 3. Good luck!docneet wrote:Hi to all,

If I understand this right, WannitBBBad, you have to move fingers for the lower and higher octave sound, right? And the only thing the arp is doing is hacking the movement of your fingers into 1/16th notes, right? Because the arp doesn't have patterns like dddddduu dddduuuu.
To be fair if so. asks for a purchase advice.

Re: Fame (Irene Cara) sequencer sound?
Good point! Yes, it was recorded manually playing the lower and upper notes and the arpeggiator provided the triggering. If I used this live I might opt to play it manually so I wouldn't have to mess with making sure the "sequence" and drummer stayed in sync. Thanks WannitBBBad. This is what I wanted to know. Now I'm closer to my decision which keyboard I'm gonna buy. I think it will be the Nord Stage 3 because of the easier to reach functionality. And of course the sublime piano and organ sounds.

Another option for that one song could be to spend €100 - €300 to get a little monophonic sequencer, say Korg Volca or Monologue to play the sequenced line. Then you'll have your hands free to play the other synth parts, pads and EPs during the rest of the song. And remember you'll also have to sing those backing "High!"s in the right place. It's a busy tune for one keyboard player.
