Stage 2 External to Alesis SR18 Drum Machine
Just purchased a Stage 2 HA76 and am trying to midi connect with Alesis SR18 drum machine so that when I select a HA76 program (actually song settings for live performance), it also transmits a midi program change to the SR18 to select the preset pattern, tempo, and mute parameters on the drum machine that match the HA76 program for live performance. Any help is appreciated.

... hmmm, I would definitely go for this (OK, you will need an old iPad and a MIDI cable kit too) which will put you in the pilots seat:

The app is cool, but not needed in this case. The NS2 has this functionality built in.
In the External Section of your choice (A or B), simply hit the button until the PGM CHG LED lights, then dial in your desired program change message. Store the program. Easy peasy.
Bless,
Pablo

Re: Stage 2 External to Alesis SR18 Drum Machine
Thanks guys...I'll try Pablo's suggestion tonight at rehearsal. Since I only use the NS2 and SR18 right now, I'll postpone the patch bay software until my rig grows.
I am still unclear on how to midi the song-specific 'tempo' and 'mute' settings from NS2. I think I understand the PGM CHG.

Re: Stage 2 External to Alesis SR18 Drum Machine
I don't think NS2 can send the tempo data to drum machine. NS2 can only select the patch, control the volume and send simple control byte.
Neither NS2 can send the master clock to drum machine. It would be very useful if NS2 can do this, since it can sync to the drum machine.
Still lots of wishlists in NS2..Chan

Re: Stage 2 External to Alesis SR18 Drum Machine
The drum machine presumably contains a clock. The Nord does not. Feed clock data from the Alesis to the Nord and you're synced.
Also presumably, the drum machine has the ability to store tempo and mute info within its own program structure. All the Nord has to do is call up the correct program on the Alesis, the Alesis does the rest.
Bless,
Pablo

If everything can be controlled/stored under Nord program and don't need to touch external device other than the power switch, it would be nice..pablomastodon wrote:The drum machine presumably contains a clock. The Nord does not. Feed clock data from the Alesis to the Nord and you're synced.

If warring peoples would lay down their weapons and live in peace and love that would be nice.
The Nord does not have a clock, so the external device will be to be touched -- perhaps via footswitch trigger?
