I just wanted to record a midi track in Garageband with my Nord Stage 2 connected by USB but I get no signal. Extern Midi is set to GLOBAL.
The SoundManager has no problem to connect and I even get a message in Garageband "Midi Input added" and "Midi Input removed" when I plug the USB cable in and out,
but in the Audio-Midi-Setup program on the Mac I find no MIDI device detected!
Any hints how to solve this?
Already tried restarting both, the Mac and the keyboard of course...
Nord Stage OS is 2.20.

Did you try this?
The Nord Stage MIDI Tutorial v2
and/ or this?
Troubleshooting USB MIDI devices on Mac
(It is on the AKAI Pro site, but it deals with general MIDI issues concerning Mac).

Hi Keyboarder99,
The GLOBAL setting you mention in External Menu does not mean what you apparently think it means. When set to GLOBAL, the midi channel settings which are assigned on the following page of the External Menu will apply to ALL programs; when set to PROGRAM you can have different channel settings on a per program basis.
What are your Midi Menu settings? What are the rest of your External Menu settings? Are you using the External Section on the front panel of the instrument?
'Let us know these things and we will be better able to help you.
Bless, Pablo

Re: USB-Midi Problem: no input device on MacBook Pro
Ok, I found the missing settings now:
On the Mac in Audio-Midi Setup I had to got to Windows=>Midi Studio - there the Nord Stage2 was listed, I expected it to show up in the main window...
On the Nord Stage 2 I had to activate the USB by selecting an USBx Channel for the Global Midi Channel with Shift Midi =>2nd. page Global Channel...
I expected it to be active immediately - but the Nord Stage Midi Tutorial described it perfect!
Thanks for the hints!
