It’s kind of embarrassing. I mean they are still considered the premiere digital keyboard manufacturer, and they come to NAMM after a two-year pandemic hiatus to play soft jazz on five-year old boards. Hardly a triumphant return.

Until this weekend is over im still going to hope they show something new on the stage.

Im just a newb trying to have fun with a nord, and i hate to wait for new toys :)
I bought a Stage 3 Compact last summer and don’t regret it. I expect it to be my main stage piano for years to come. I’d still buy it today.

My bigger concern is we aren’t seeing new hardware, we aren’t seeing substantial updates and we have no idea if Clavia is just being quiet or is in financial trouble.

Small music manufacturers like Clavia make their money by selling new products. This then frees up older products to hit the used market, which then builds brand loyalty and leads to these users upgrading. Their brand is very strong which is why Nord keyboards, even ones a decade old, still command a high price on Reverb.

Yes, it does seem very odd that they have no announcements, no updates for current instruments, no new products in the middle of NAMM. I bought my NW2 in 2020 as I knew it would do what I needed, and it does. However, there are a number of issues that could be addressed in an update, but it has been 18 months. Very disappointing.

Premium instrument… I think the US distributor or some kind of import fee is the to blaim here.
I cannot understand why a NS3 88 are selling for US 3400 here in Denmark, but US 5299 at Sweetwater.
Over here, they are perhaps a bit more expensive then some of the competitors, but not much.

I can’t see any idea of releasing a new instrument right now with the delivery problems it is with components, they need momentum after releasing, and to be able to deliever when the product still is hyped.
They released the Wave 2 just before the Corona hitted us, and then when it reached the stores that was not locked, no one had a chance to try it out. That might have hurt.
I am following The ongoing Namm show on other foras, there is not so much news with keys right now.

However, that shouldn’t affect that they could have fixed the bug people have found, if any serious.
Released new samples, other than the piano under a blankets.
There was some talking of a new sampling format that came with NP5 with natural vibrato, round robin e.t.c. Did they hit a stone ?

I just ordered a K&M Spider Pro stand.

Sweetwater? $750 + tax

Thomann? $250 plus $75 shipping from Germany to USA. Ordered yesterday, will arrive Monday.

As for the Wave 2, the last OS update was 1.20 in October 2020. Bugs aside, new features would also be welcome and give the keyboard years more longevity. Instead it almost feels abandoned.

It's apparent that no one in this forum is knowledgeable about the internal development activities at Nord, or their business plans or financial situation. Or, if they are, they are unwilling or unable to discuss those things. However, we can can see that it isn't "business as usual", but can only guess why or what they are doing to get back in the groove. I hope they are not in serious financial trouble.

I've just watched some NAMM 2022 youtube videos and it seems also big companies like yamaha, korg, roland etc. don't have anything 'big' to present.

Although also I'm a little bit disappointed about that lets enjoy our instruments and for me I'm happy Nord attend NAMM 2022 at all. I guess the music instruments industry is still struggling because of the pandemic.
I found the recent post from Nord on youtube:

Unfortunately it seems there is no live stream where we can watch their lineup :(

Fingers crossed Nord will release any software updates / firmware updates f.e. for Library 4.0 in the upcoming weeks.

i haven't watched many videos but I do know that all these companies have released new models within the past year or two, all with new upgrades and/or tech. Given that NAMM hasn't met since January 2020, anything released from mid-2020 on would qualify as a "new" product for the industry show.

Here are some I know about based on my interests and I'm sure there are others, esp in the synth lines which I don't follow:

Korg released the SV-2 in mid-2020 which was big news, since the SV-1 is a popular board and this was a significant upgrade, and certainly an alternative for a "swiss army knife" board.
Yamaha released the YC73 and YC88 in early 2021 as additions to the popular YC61 line, and all of which are potential Electro-killers.
Roland released their Fantom workstation line a few months ago, in March, 2022. These are entry-level priced "serious" boards (under $2000) and Nord has nothing to compete with them, unless you want to pay 2.5x more for a five-year old Stage.

Well, I’m so glad you finally put this subject to rest.
The Nord Wave 2 was released at NAMM 2020.
The Nord Piano 5 was released in 2021.

Both of those qualify as “new releases” as per your fabulous explanation.

Nord is doing fine — better than most, in fact, as you have made clear.

Thank you. I hope this tripe of Nord letting its product lines languish can finally die its well-deserved death.
