Sustain Pedal Question ?

Hallo,
there is a pedal included with the Stage 3 - you could use this. I use Roland pedals for years, they are robust and convenient as they have a "rubber tongue" which holds it in place. For Control the Yamaha FC7 ist great, have this for three years now, no issues.

As far as I know the NS3 does not come with a sustain pedal, unless you got a special package from the dealer or person you bought it from. Which Roland Pedal Model is the one you have ?

It depends on which NS3 model you bought. The HP76 and 88 include the sustain pedal, the Compact does not.

The previous poster is likely talking about the Roland DP-10. Wonderful design with the swing-out heel flap, but I got tired of repairing/replacing every three years or so. You may fare better, I can be a little rough on pedals in general.

It depends on which NS3 model you bought. The HP76 and 88 include the sustain pedal, the Compact does not.

You are right - that's the one (DP-10). I have three of them, all working perfectly for years now.
Got a pedal with the 88-key Stage 3, that's right. In Germany (I checked thomann.de) you also get a pedal with the Compact.

Mine is weird too. The contact bounces internally, so when you press it down, it doesn't just change from "off" to "on", but sends out a series of "on-off" transitions first, going from "off - on - off - on - off - on" instead of just "off - on" (and yes, when in the on/off mode). It works in some cases, but not as a toggle switch for instance.

Well, my "newest" DP-10 is approx. 5 years old. The others older. No problems ever, use them a lot and take them to every gig and band practice. So,
in my opinion very robust.

Have you tried recording MIDI when you use the pedal? Mine works when used in normal sustain mode, but when I look at the MIDI signal generated there are multiple bounces when I press the pedal. You may not notice this in many live playing situations, but it can cause other problems.
