Hi Aurelio,

the range LED is on if the Pitch bend range has been changed from it's default settings, just an indicator/reminder.

EDIT: just saw that you found it yourselve as well already :D

Hello,

First time chiming in. I have a Stage 3 88 at home, and the church where I attend also has one. We bought them about two weeks apart around July 2019.
To my surprise, the two units are different. Mine seems to have more buttons. There's a "type" button that allows me to go from one piano bank to another. The church unit doesn't have it. Also, the synth section seems to be easier to go through on mine. By default, I can toggle through the Preset Categories (I'm sure it's not categories, probably USER or some other term that I'm botching) on mine at home, and always have to do one or a few extra steps to be able to get to that on the church's keyboard. Lastly, the church's unit sadly required a lot more time to update OS version and even came with less sounds than mine.

It's somewhat disappointing that both units are tagged at the same MSRP yet one is clearly an older revision, while the other one is a clear upgrade.

Welcome. It sounds like the church has an NS3 with the original RevA control panel and you have a newer Rev B control panel that was released this summer. Same instrument and sounds. There is no reason why one would take longer to update the OS. I’m not sure if the preloaded sounds are different, but you can simply restore one to the other.

Also other than a different button arrangement, there is no material difference in operation or one that is a clear upgrade over the other. I have a Rev A HA88 from 2017 and a Rev B Compact I just got in October. To me, the Compact Rev B has the only significant upgrade over the Compact Rev A, which are the brackets for the music rest. Other than that, it really makes no difference. If anything, the piano Type button on the Rev B is more of a hinderance to me since I can’t freely move between grands and uprights just by turning the knob when I’m auditioning sounds. If I’m in uprights, I have to tap the Type button 5 times to get back to grands.

In any case, if it’s a problem for you, see if the dealer will exchange the Rev A for a Rev B.
EDIT: In rereading your OP, it’s been too long since you’ve received the unit (5 months) to ask for an exchange. No worries, the Rev A is just as good as the Rev B.

Thanks for replying!

I guess I'm just used to the type button. Maybe I typed this wrong initially. I didn't mean that it takes longer to update OS in the RevA model. I meant that the RevB model came with a newer OS and more sounds, which caused me some time to get the church unit to par with the other one.

About that, I've got a question that most of you reading this should be able to answer. If I want to basically copy the same sounds and presets, etc. from my home's Nord to the Church's Nord, am I able to do this? Can I back it up and restore every single thing on it? This would be really useful, and would make my workflow much more efficient!

Thanks!

Yes, you can back up and restore from one unit to another. If you aren’t adding pianos or lots of samples, the process is only a minute or two. I do the same thing to keep my HA88 and Compact in sync.
