Very clever, to re-purpose a control on the Nord itself! And to those who say "but it doesn't spring back," remember, a minimoog pitch wheel didn't spring back either.

Nice idea, but maybe not so "handy" to be used live; in case a PB only in 1 direction (down or up) is enough I would rather use a continuous sustain pedal connected to a MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller, programmed to send PB up (or down) based on pedal position (which would "spring back" to 0 when released, btw).

Yes, for one direction PB, that's a great solution. That's one I've done myself, though not on an Electro. I did it not because the board didn't have a pitch wheel, but because I didn't have the hand available to use it.

Well wait a mo it’s just as easy to use the sustain pedal as the controller, in fact you could use both if you want. My Prodigy pitch wheel didn’t have a spring either but the centre ‘dead’ spot was quite wide and often did not return to zero! So you had to wiggle it bit and use your ears to check tuning PITA!

I will give that a try but not sure I could get into using a pedal fir PB.

Following on anotherscott's suggestion, a pitch wheel or any pot/controller that is wired as an expression pedal could also be used for this purpose.

No, because it needs to be a continuous style sustain pedal.
