MidiOX on Windows and Snoize Midi Monitor on Mac OS are free softwares that can do MIDI monitoring ;-)

update: I connected the Roland JD-08 directly with the NS2. The same result with the JD-08! There is a sound, which is not included in the saved patch.
Have you tried to start from a blank (Init) program and then rebuild the 2 External sections settings? Or to put a computer between the NS2 and the JD-08 and monitor the MIDI traffic (to ensure the NoteOn messages are only on the desired channels)?

PS: I am assuming you have Global Channel set to OFF or USBxx on the NS2.

Hi maxpiano,

the initialfunktion is not working at all, doublestrange

I have changed the channel (Roland XV-3080) from 5 to 3. Now I can play the d-05 without the other tone. I don't understand why.

Are you pressing the SHIFT before the other Init Key (and keeping Shift pressed until you release the Init Key)?

However, reading your otehr message, there seem to be something to check across the MIDI channels configurations of all the devices involved in your setup, you shoudl check and list all their MIDI settings (global and parts) and ensure you have no unwanted overlaps.

Hi maxpiano,

I know to press the shift button like described in the manual.
It doesn't work.
However I checked all midi channels; there is everything on right position. I have the midi-ox but how can I switch the software between without interface?
Maybe I will keep it as it is now (with the changed channel in XV-3080) and see if the error occurs again.
Thank you all friends for your fast support.

Hello Helmut, sorry for that, but you never know if someone has ever used that function and some people get confused, so I preferred to remind it :D
anyway it cannot be normal that you cannot sound-init a Program on your NS2, that is very strange.

About MIDI Ox, without a MIDI Interface you can't unless you connect both NS2 and JD-08 via USB and make configurations/routings that way (i.e.same channels but via USB, even if this would be different than what you have today, but could be good just for testing)

However, if now it works for you just don't touch and enjoy! ;)

Does the Shift key work in other combinations other the Init buttons?
And is it all 3 Init instruments (and Organ Split) that do not work?

I tried with MIDI ox, but I connected via usb because lack of midi interface.
The signal is sending only on the channel 2 i set. Nothing else.
