Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Thank you very much for testing the NSMP conversion. I'm pleased it also converted a user-created NSMP3 file as that type isn't listed in the Nord Sound Manager revision notes. Thanks again, take care.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Thanks for testing wtibbit and I also think that Nord is not just converting from v3 to v4, but they are actually recreating the .nsmp4 from the original samples (or new versions of them) to exploit the new features of v4, last not least round robin (which requires multiple samples per key/zone and could not be achieved with a simple conversion of v3)wtibbit wrote:I used Sound Manager 7.62 to successfully download and convert the user-generated EUROPA_PAD.nsmp3 file to version 4 format. When I uploaded that sample back to my computer I saw that the converted file name is now EUROPA_PAD.nsmp4.maxpiano wrote:There are a couple of .nsmp3 in this thread nord-stage-3-programs-ns3p-ns3pb-files- ... lit=.nsmp3wtibbit wrote: If someone will point me to a user-created .nsmp3 file, I'll test to determine if the Sample Manager will convert it to a version 4 sample and load it into my P5.
This test further convinces me that Nord is doing more than simply converting their Sample 3.0 library to version 4.0 format using the conversion routine embodied in the Sound Manager software, and that effort isn't high on their priority list. Or, possibly, or they have cost or legal issues with sample licenses. Either way, the Sound Manager tool recognizes the official Nord version 3.0 samples and refuses to convert them to version 4.0.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Did anyone succeed in loading 3 WAV files on a single note on the NSE and generate a nsmp4 out of it that recreates the round robin feature ?
I can share WAV with round robin for testing if needed
I'm also asking myself how this vibrato effect in nsmp4 is done : no option in NSE to "enable" vibrato, therefore it's either hidden somewhere in the sample format (therefore not available for custom samples ?), or maybe the OS allows Vibrato based on specific categories (like Pad, Pluck, Epiano1...) ?

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
How about I generate two NSMP4 for Piano 5 owners to give me a feedback ?
First would be to check and confirm the RR feature : so very different sounds per unique note. Question : how many WAV per note are supported in the nsmp4 format ?
Second will be a more usable sound with as many RR as possible (I have nice acoustic sounds with 3 up to 5-6 RR).
Aside question : no way to have 2 nsmp on the 2 panels and simulate a 2*RR sound ?

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Hi Fred, sorry to have missed your last posts, I don't read the Piano forum often. It's very nice of you to offer to help folks figure out what they are capable of doing with their Piano 5. Regarding the NSE4, I found that I could save at least 6 WAV files to a single note that I thought was for round robin, but didn't try to do more (edit: post below explains RR). Regarding the vibrato, it's possible that Nord implemented a universal change to how it processes samples in the NSMP4 format, so no specific instrument type needs to be selected. Hopefully we'll hear more from the NP5 owners Take care.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Thanks WannitBBBad ! I started some testings, but need more time.
Started with a Flute sound, with 5 RR WAV per note (total of 12 notes=60 files=67Mb total). Surprisingly, the size of nsmp, nsmp3 or nsmp4 is about the same (1 Mb) ???
Must have done something wrong or the compression algorithm is quite impressive (difference in size between nsmp3 and 4 is only 708 bytes... where did the extra 4 samples per note go ?) !
Anyway, will check again and will soon release nsmp4 to confirm.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Well, it seems you can't active multi samples per note, eventhough you have assigned more than 1 sample to the note.
There is this radio button per sample, but you can't activate all samples for the RR : Therefore I believe the generated NSMP only takes the sample selected (activated) in NSE and no way to have more than 1 sample per note.
I'll ask the Nord support.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
OK, got this confirmed by Nord support team.
Quoting the official answer below :
"The round robin feature is only available on certain factory produced samples, and those utilize a technology of playing neighboring notes (transposed) in a round robin pattern - rather than assigning multiple samples per note. With NSE 4.14 it is possible to sample multiple strokes (we refer to those as “takes”) per key, but this is mostly a utility for when sampling acoustic instruments, and one may need a number of samples/takes to choose from when setting up the instrument.
It could be possible that features of this sort are made available in upcoming versions of the sample editor, but as of now they are not."
So keeping the same philosophy for the RR : no multiple samples per note, but a trick to use adjacent notes detuned on the fly to simulate the RR.
Therefore keeping NSMP small : mono-layered, mono-sample.
Will ask for a new feature in NSE to generate (yes/no) the RR feature for nsmp4.

Re: NSMP conversion to NSMP4 using Nord Sound Manager
Hi
I cannot get my NSM to even recognise the nsmp files on my Mac Finder, so I can't even get into the File Conversion dialogue. Any thoughts?
Thanks
