Nord Wave 2 Issues…

Post by JohnnyFoster »

Hello,

Just got a new Nord Lead 2, and was wondering if anyone has issues and/or solutions with the following:

1. When using an Expression pedal for volume, it seems that even if you filter out expression at whatever you’re controlling from the keyboard (like Gig Performer or Mainstage), it still allows volume to be controlled by the pedal. With Local Control off when playing virtual instruments in my computer, I can’t seem to stop the pedal from controlling volume via Expression even if it’s filtered out.

2. When creating samples of my piano sound in Logic and spacing the recordings out considerably, when importing the samples into Nord Sample Manager, it correctly assigns all samples across the keyboard correctly EXCEPT TWO KEYS. I can’t seem to figure out how to correct these two bum keys, which are playing samples from way up the keyboard. How do you change the samples per key so that they’ll play the correct ones?

Thanks for any help!

Best,
JF

I may need a bit more info here -- is the pedal connected to the NW2 'control pedal' input or another midi controller? It sounds like you are using it in tandem w Mainstage/other midi devices so there can be weirdness in what device is doing what. It sounds to me like wherever you have the pedal plugged in is sending some sort of CC Volume message that needs to be tracked down.

Are you using the logic 'auto sampler' or doing this manually? Are those two keys labeled correctly in the filenames? maybe it'd be helpful to share which keys are the problem as well as the names of the files you are using to send them into the NSM

Nord Lead 2 / Nord Wave 2? What's your gear?

To switch Local Off only means to disable the internal sound processing unit. This shouldn't have anything to do with MIDI. You may disable MIDI CC send instead so that only Program Change and notes are sent.

Have you tried to use a MIDI viewer on your computer to see which MIDI data is sent when using the expression pedal? It may be #11 (expression) or #7 (volume). Only then you know what to filter out individually.
