Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
You will need to order the programs in the NS4 in the same order as you would the songs in the NS3. All the Midi would be sent the same per programs. It is the Program that sends the Midi, not the Songs themselves.

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
I don't fully understand what you mean. Is it Song Mode your are talking about or rather the Extern section of your Stage 3? And if it's the latter, your Stage 3 is controlling the EQ unit? Then you would do the same with the synth's Extern mode on a Stage 4, I guess. As long as you can afford rendering a synth layer.

Extern Program Change Send
As sad as it is that there is no Song Mode, coming from Stage 2 EX I’m used to having an iPad with Set List Maker with me sending the desired program change.
A big wish list point is
Send Program Change on patch load just with a menu entry, without losing a full synth layer just for sending the PC to another synth.

Re: Extern Program Change Send
That's a good point, that EXTERN is often used just to send a Program Change and not actually to play an external sound. So if they added a parameter to the synth section, basically an option to send a specified MIDI MSB/LSB Program Change on a specified MIDI channel when the synth sound were invoked, they could address a significant need for EXTERN without necessarily having to sacrifice a synth. As long as you're not actually playing the external sounds form the Nord's keys, that's really as much EXTERN as you need, and it doesn't seem inherently unfeasible to build that minimal amount of MIDI functionality directly into the synth section.MartinJ2EX wrote:A big wish list point is

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
There are now quite a lot in-depth introduction videos out there, so I'm aware of the new concepts to "programs" and "presets". And I still can't wrap my head around, what should I do when a singer turns around in the middle of the set and changes the next song? It's a typical gig situation...so I should now drag an Ipad or a laptop to the stage just to navigate?

You can reorder the programs without a laptop, which is great! (See page 43 in the manual)captainkeys wrote:I still can't wrap my head around, what should I do when a singer turns around in the middle of the set and changes the next song? It's a typical gig situation..?
Only problem I see with that - if I set up everything with iPad, linking programs to songs… moving a patch to another location will break this link.
If you don’t use a Set List Manager at all, the Setlist function is still there.

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
When they removed the Set List feature in the transition from Electro 5 to Electro 6, there was likewise a lot of talk about how to work around the loss. Maybe referencing that will be helpful for making the NS3-to-NS4 transition, do you might want to take a look at nord-electro-forum-f9/setlist-in-the-ne-6-t15654.html
One of the things the E6 let you do was move pages around, that was helpful, but I don't see a comparable function on the NS4. (Maybe in the Sound Manager?)
In the end, using a smartphone/tablet is probably best. Set List Maker is a likely suitable app that runs on both Apple and Android devices.

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Oh no song mode. You're not serious, are you? Nord Clavia should urgently introduce the song mode on Stage 4 with an update. This is indispensable for the musicians on stage!

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
I can't imagine that's going to happen. The buttons are the buttons, there's no physical interface for the Song Mode functions, no reasonable available buttons I can see to conceivably use for it, which aren't already taken up with functions and shift-functions.Arni61 wrote:Oh no song mode. But I'd also say, it's not indispensable. Of all the Nord Stage models, only one model had it. Of all the Nord Electro models, only one model had it. And many people have happily used (and are still using) those other Nords that don't have the feature. (Some even use the models that DO have that feature, and still don't use it.) But if it's indispensable to you, at least for now, you can still get the NS3. Or you can use a smartphone to get similar functionality.
It's not that I'm not sympathetic to those who wish the NS4 had it. But I think this is one of those cases where "it is what it is."

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
For €7 or so, you can buy a nice USB-C cable for your smartphone. Then use Bandhelper for all of your setlist management... Works like a charm!
