Nord Lead A1 Voltage questions + Keeps resetting
Nord Lead A1 Voltage questions + Keeps resetting
Hello guys,
I just bought an A1 off of the Romanian ebay and:
- what is the correct input voltage? 115V? Please see pic attached.
- i did connect it to our mains, which ia 230V and the synths keeps resetting itself after 10 seconds...
Any ideas please?
BR,
Radu

Re: Nord Lead A1 Voltage questions + Keeps resetting
Correct input voltage depends on the internal setting of the synth. What is labelled is what it came with originally. If you plugged a 230V mains into a synth labelled 115V without checking internally if it was set to 230V, you run a very serious risk of damaging the synthesizer.
See this topic for converting between North American 110-120V and European/Rest-of-World 220-250V power: general-nord-forum-f29/converting-nords ... 23084.html
I would recommend first you make sure your synth and fuse are set for European standard internally and that the fuse is appropriate, then try to power it on again. If it keeps resetting then, it is possible that it was damaged and will need repair.

So further analisys: voltage was set to 220/230V.
It powers on and if i do not play anything everything is alright. The moment i play some chords on the keyboard it goes restarting itself.
Any ideas?

No clue, could be power supply (pressing keys closes contacts and increases power consumption, although very marginally, but making sound increases DSP load which does increase power consumption more significantly), could be damaged memory, could be a variety of other things.
You could try reloading the operating system onto it, but I suggest you contact support. A malfunctioning unit is indicative of internal failure/damage of some kind in most cases. They're quite robust otherwise.

Try to connect it with a an external keyboard, using MIDI, to rule out any bad connections from the keys on the A1

Check all cables/connectors between all boards (Power Supply <-> Mainboard <-> Keyboard and also Mainboard <-> Panel) are seating properly, in case of doubt disconnect and reconnect them (both sides)Chi7d wrote:So further analisys: voltage was set to 220/230V.

Thank you both, will try today!
Could it also be a wrong fuse??

Re: Nord Lead A1 Voltage questions + Keeps resetting
You can check it but it is difficult that is the cause, a smaller value fuse would maybe blow, not cause restarts (and anyway thy 220V one is the smallest, as you can read in the thread linked in a previous post, so worst case you have the 110V fuse which is higher and you should rather replace it with the right one, for safety).Chi7d wrote:Thank you both, will try today!
