Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Although I was a big user of song mode on the NS3, one thing I didn't appreciate until recently was just how useful the NS4 Layer II button could be to get through most cover band songs.
A typical example might be a ballad where a piano/pad makes sense for the intro and verses, and then rich organ or strings for the chorus.
Being able to toggle bi-modally across two different volume registrations (using one program) looks to me like one of those easy shortcuts Nord is so famous for.
If a song *really* needs a lot of substantially different parts, I then block out 2-4 programs and name them sequentially. But that's the exception, not the rule.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Perhaps one of the members is able and willing to build software with song mode functionality for tablet and or phone?
In my opinion nothing more than a small database of songs with several parts per song and the ability to send a program change after pressing a (part)button within a song on the touch screen.

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
There are already plenty of apps which can do that in various ways (Camelot Pro, ForScore, iMidiPatchbay, Setlist Maker, BandHelper, KeyStage, ...)TvR69 wrote:Perhaps one of the members is able and willing to build software with song mode functionality for tablet and or phone?

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
I think it is clear that the new architecture of the NS4, based on the NW2, did not allow for the inclusion of the Song Mode tab, or they would have left it in.

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
I don’t think those programs have the same functionality like songmode on the Nord where you can switch between up to 5 programs in one song at any moment you like..maxpiano wrote: There are already plenty of apps which can do that in various ways (Camelot Pro, ForScore, iMidiPatchbay, Setlist Maker, BandHelper, KeyStage, ...)
But maybe I am wrong?

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Both work the same way, by pointing at existing programs. Once you bring an external device (even an iPhone), you can do all sorts of clever things. I remember seeing program changes embedded in lyrics for singers -- along with lighting changes -- for example.TvR69 wrote:I don’t think those programs have the same functionality like songmode on the Nord where you can switch between up to 5 programs in one song at any moment you like..maxpiano wrote: There are already plenty of apps which can do that in various ways (Camelot Pro, ForScore, iMidiPatchbay, Setlist Maker, BandHelper, KeyStage, ...)

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Although I like the song mode feature on the Stage 3, and I don't have a Stage 4... I'm sure there are many ways to get around on the 4 without song mode with its many layering features...
I do wish my NS3C had another synth engine like the Stage 4... Many times I'm looking to put a sample along with synth sound and hand clap or other equaling more than the two synth allowable! I feel most of us Nord folks will get the most outta any of these nord keyboards, and let's face it. It's one the best series of a on the fly board out there on the market!

ForScore, for example, not only can send MIDI messages when you pull up a song… you can create and label as many buttons as you want on that page, for any message you care to send. And it can send multiple messages per button (in the case of multiple boards in your rig).

Re: Stage 4 Song Mode ?
Also with Camelot Pro (using Songs and Scenes, no custom buttons but more than enough to manage 5 or more changes)PScooter63 wrote:Maybe you areTvR69 wrote:I don’t think those programs have the same functionality like songmode on the Nord where you can switch between up to 5 programs in one song at any moment you like..maxpiano wrote: There are already plenty of apps which can do that in various ways (Camelot Pro, ForScore, iMidiPatchbay, Setlist Maker, BandHelper, KeyStage, ...)

If you just need some pads to send some Program Change, there is also this one https://midipadapp.com
