+1 to this. I've been running my E5D organ through a Roland Blues Cube amp and it does wonders to the sound. The C2D engine is a tad edgy and 'digital sounding' to my ears and it takes off that edge really well. Doesn't give you the spaciousness though; it's more like a tightly miked Leslie which cuts through the band nicely.Blueguitar007 wrote:Get a Fender tube amp or two, and ditch the Rolands and just use the built in Leslie function.
What's the fun of having other stuff plugged into your Electro when it's all right there on the panel.
Tube amps warm up the organ real good. Also the Rhodes.

If it were me, since the E5 has a very respectable B3 sound, I'd spend the money on better amplification. A pair of QSC V2 8" would be WAY better than a couple of Roland keyboard amps. Better than a Twin Reverb also, though back in the day a lot of folks used them for Rhodes with some success. Plus you don't have to be a rugby player to load it in and out.

If I want to have the best B3-Sound, I use the NeoVentilator. This thing is genious and the Best emulation f.m.o. . For some recordings I had the Grinder too - a nice and more warm, but also brighter effect against the internal. But being ontheroad / onstage, I don´t like to spend the effort for external effects, since the internal Sim (with sensitive setting) is really good itself.
@Roooch: Changing the NE5D to a NS373compact would be a gread thing with the more controlers and the Synth-Section. I really like the complete tool under my hands. But just from an Organ-standpoint, I would keep the NE5D. For me the NS373compact-sound and -keybed shows no difference to the NE5D (but the extended range)...
I had the smaller ones and none could be called "Amp". maybe the real big ones are better, but to expensive and to luggy. The best Amp-solution I found was the Roland JC-40 which offers a loud and clear amplification of the internal sound-engine. Okay - I didn´t use the JC-40 distortion, since I just like to have the Nord Sound from my headphone replicated. Meanwhile I go directly to the mixer again. Minimize effort to the max...
