If it would be an instrument that was only unpacked or tested in the shop or was sent to and sent back by only one "normal" customer (the typical money-back situation), I would keep it for $300 less.
If it was an explicit showroom model which was used over a longer period of time from an uncounted number of people, I would exchange it for a new one.
I once bought both a Stage 3 Compact and a Lead A1 as B-Stock models from a German dealer (OK, here we usually have a 3 year warranty even for B-stock gear), but they both looked and worked flawlessly for many years. And I saved 400 respectively 200 Euros.

I still think that I would take the $300 and keep it since it has the same warranty like the brand new one.
Edit: Especially since the boxes seem not to be handled carefully sometimes in the US during transportation as reported in this forum here a few times - so you are at risk to receive your brand new Stage 4 in a damaged box and then have to send it back again ....

Re: Bought "New" Stage 4, Received Used
I wonder if it makes sense to keep it, and put the $300 towards an extended warranty. Can anyone recommend a semi reputable company that sells those? I know in the end they’re all kind of bad news, but maybe that coverage would make sense.
