I got videos of this issue, just in case anyone else experiences it. I'll add one here.

In both cases, both of my hands were only on keys, and no other controller sources were touched. In both cases, these are patches I created with no fanciness happening on aftertouch or morph. This incident is purely random, happening rarely and not reproducible under the same conditions (time, heat, patch, etc).

In both cases, it's as if a controller knob has been moved, though it has not. What is interesting about this is that it is literally registering a move -- which is to say the value that the phantom controller is registering *is* the value of where the physical knob is at the time. But the effect depends on the patch involved. So in one case the sound was not affected, but in the other case it was.

Adding the shortest of the two videos (20sec).

Do both videos show the edit as changing the Delay Feedback setting to 1.7? I've had that happen on my NS3 with a dead bug inside the unit that affected the Mod Env knob and made the setting jump to 10.0. It happened on every program, but of course, only affected the programs that used that parameter. I opened up the NS3, sprayed compressed air, and vacuumed the inside and all was well after that.

I have experienced the same (very rare) problem of phantom changes appearing in the display. It is always the delay as far as I can tell. I've ignored it to be honest, as it has never happened during a gig or rehearsal (famous last words).

The first video was the delay depth, the second one (not posted) was the mod 2 knob. So the first one had no effect because the patch wasn’t using delay, but the second one did.

Update:

I took the unit to get repaired. Unsurprisingly, it did not exhibit the problem. All of the hardware diagnostics checked out. The tech suggested exercising the knobs on a regular basis. I have yet to try the unit out since getting it home.

It will be a year since purchase in three weeks.

Hooking up MIDI Monitor shows me that this unit is sending controller messages every now and then. Even when I am not playing it. So we’ll see what happens next.
