Nord Stage 3 with Mainstage

Hi guys, I need your help.I want to use my Nord Stage 3 as a controller for Mainstage but I would like to know if I can assign the other buttons of the Nord to control MS. For example:The On/Off button of the Synth section on Stage 3 to mute a channel strip on MS or I am limited to the function of the Extern Midi?
