Stage 4 Song Mode ?

reviving this thread for a question that's probably already been answered, so sorry in advance... I am a big fan of my Electro 5 for the setlist (song) mode. Wedding band gigs with quick call outs....so easy to alphabetize all the songs I've programmed and roll up to one of them in a flash. But I'm getting tired of playing on the waterfall keys and want to upgrade to a Stage. The 4 doesnt have the song mode anymore but the 3 does. If I were to get a Stage 3, is there anyway to transfer the setlist/songs from an electro to a stage? or are the files all different and I'd be doing it all from scratch again?

The architecture of the two instruments is different, so you will need to reprogram your set lists into the Song Mode of the NS3-

Or wait the Nord Stage 5-SM coming out this summer. Unfortunately, DJKeys is correct - the new Song Mode will have done from scratch. But, it will be worth it end for having all those effects on the engines.

Seems like the faq thread about non-cross-compatibility needs more attention…
There are too many new threads about importing patches.

1) Nord Stage upgrade cycle is appx. 6 years … Stage 2 came out in 2011, Stage 3 came out in 2017 and Stage 4 in 2023, each 6 years after its predecessor. So please, no Stage 5 talk in summer 2024. If it’s a joke, please add an emoji, there are some people who believe they’ll see a Stage 5 after reading such posts.
You can add your wishes to the Nord WishList, it seems like many of the requested features made their way into the Stage 4..

MAYBE we will see some sort of Song Mode implementation in Stage 4, even though it seems very unlikely because we wouldn’t have a clear button to access this mode, which is not typical for Nord to have obviously hidden functionality..


2) There is NO way to import programs / patches from ANY other Nord keyboard to the next generation or another model. ONLY nords to have this were the EX version. Nords are not like a Kronos that has the exact same OS, every single one is different. You CAN, however, import the same Piano Samples to every piano-compatible Nord instrument or most samples to a newer generation, even though this has some limitations.

Under the STORE-button you get that PAGE NAME. My guess is that this is the solution we'll get here. You can name a page of 8 programs and then place your programs for intro, verse, chorus etc. inside of that page.

That's the way I do it now. Only without the labelling. I have deleted almost all factory programmes. That means we have 8 pages x 8 banks, which makes 64 songs. Every Page is one Song with 8 Programms.
We would need more banks and the possibility to move the pages as a whole, then I would be happy....

Same here.. No S4 for the same reason.. I don't call it a Stage 4, because frankly it's not a keyboard meant to be played on stage anymore. I think the "S" really stands for "Studio".

Unfortunately Nord Stage 4 without song mode is almost useless on Stage. LOL

OTOH, 8 quick program select buttons is more stage-friendly than 5... and it's easier to add a smartphone/tablet app for a song mode to an NS4 than it is to add more front panel patch select buttons to an NS3.

it's extra costs (mostly the tablet, bandhelper is a dollar a month subscription and is actively maintained, I'm a happy user, not affiliated!) but being able to setup the list away from my keyboard is a real plus to me.

and in terms of minimizing extra cost, odds are you can effectively replace song mode using the smartphone or tablet you're probably already bringing to the gig anyway.

I made a decision and will sell my Nord Stage 4!
I bought it a year ago as a backup for my NS3, with which I play live almost every day.
All sets are organized there in the song mode. Since the decisive update probably does not come, I cannot use the NS4 on stage and it is now being sold again ... Either I buy another NS3 or a Korg Nautilus.

It's been a while now... almost 2 years, and still no way to properly organize songs ???
Just a long program list... my Yamaha PSR from 2012 does it better !! (Even the Nord Stage 3 )
I just hoped an update would come out, but it's been too long now ...
I don't know, can we make a petition or something ? A keyboard in that price range.. It's not possible
