Re: Floyd : Shine on Strings
The horn sound used with this was a mini moog but i can't find anything that sounds anywhere good enough on my nord stage 2. What do you use?

Re: Floyd : Shine on Strings
Hi Dave the Knife,
I really love your sample, and all Pink Floyd fans around find it amazing when I let them hear. Thank you very much for this
There's just one thing to it that I would change – or that I'd like you to change, actually, because so far, I have no idea how I could do it myself.
Let me explain...
The original chord in the song is Gm. (Then it turns to Dm and Cm.)
As far as I understand, you sampled the Gm, but you linked it to the C key. So, in order to play the Gm, you have to use the C, to play the Dm => G, and the Cm => F. (Or did I do something wrong when I loaded the file to my NE5?)
So it's a bit confusing. Of course, I could transpose the keyboard to restore the standard key / note relation. But my patch has a split with solo synth on right hand, so if I transpose, then it's the right part that would be affected. (I don't think I can transpose only one of the upper or lower parts, on my NE5).
Oh and by the way, do you think you'd be able to sample the solo synth as well and provide the whole sound as a split?
I'm asking this, because, as far as I know, the NE5 does not allow to use 2 separate synths on the lower and upper parts (only sounds from different sections). So I use your sample (from the synth section) as the lower part and a church organ sound (from the organ section) as the upper part to emulate the solo synth (with several effects, it does the job... sort of).
Sorry if I'm asking too much, and anyway, thank you again for this great sample!

Re: Floyd : Shine on Strings
Finally, I did it by myself!
I sampled the strings, and mapped it to the G key (instead of C). So that when you play the G key, you get a Gm, when you play the D key, D minor, etc.
The loop is not 100% smooth, but well, I'm still happy with it.
Also, I made a sample of the cash drawer sound in Money, and the "tick tock" from the intro of Time, both on the Dark Side of the Moon album.
I own a 73-key NE 5, and so I mapped the first sample (Money) to the very first key left (E1) and the second sample (Time) to the second key (F1).
These are my first attempts at building samples for the Nord Electro.
