Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
Hi everyone,
Very happy with my NS4 since January, I also regret that unlike my old NS3, the volumes are post effects/reverb.
However, I discovered something today: strangely, the volume of the organ section not have the same behavior as other sections :
even when the rotary speaker is not active, I can lower the organ volume fader and keep the trail reverb... has anyone noticed this before?
And so why is it not possible with the piano and synth sections ? I miss something ?
Thanks

True, the organ faders are pre-effects and the piano/synth faders are post-effects. I see no reason the piano/synth faders can't be pre-effects as well; however I'd like a little more flexibility than that. For each instrument I would like to be able to choose pre/post fader for Delay/Reverb separate from pre/post fader for Amp Sim / EQ.patmol59 wrote: ↑20 Oct 2024, 18:55 Hi everyone,

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
Yes! This is sadly a dealbreaker for me too. Nord have replied that they currently have no plans to change this. Fortunately the 3 is a highly powerful instrument that I'm happy to stick with for as long as necessary. Maybe they will wake up to fixing this at some point... a simple FX post/pre volume setting should be fairly simple to implement, either on preset or global level. Going deeper it could be fun to change FX chain order - having the Pump sidechain effect post or pre delay/reverb are two very different esthetic options, both valid depending on context... but that type of option is a detail. Reverb/delay hardwired to post-volume is not, it makes the instrument practically useless to me.

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
Hi all,
I just bought the new NS4 and discovered this strange behaviour: delay/reverb fx are pre-volume, so trail is being cutted when I put volume to 0. Apart for the matter of effects chained to layers, there should be an option to have "ambiental effects" to be post-volume.
I see that this argument has been discussed here since several months, and this for me is a big problem. And I don't want to think to put an external effect in order to have delay/reverb in the sounds, just because every different sound has its proper reverb/delay.
I will write to Nord support to ask if they plain to change this, as said in this forum. Maybe we all should write to them, so that if they see a lot of users asking for this, maybe they will consider it as a serious problem that absolutely needs to be fixed.

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
When I purchased a NS4 a year ago I also asked the Nord Support about this issue and they are aware of it.
What this means? Unknown. Maybe they can fix it or they cant. We can only Hope

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
I wouldn't expect this to be "fixed" as it is inherent in the design of the instrument. The Wave 2 was the first with the individual layer design and the behavior is the same in that board.

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
I've just picked up a NS4 and at the moment I think I may have hit this issue. I'm a first time Nord user so there may be a workaround but I'm playing a piano with a synth string layer under it which has a slow attack and a reverb tail. The song builds to a crescendo and a long sustained note, but then after that I want to drop the string layer and just play the piano for the finish however I can't yet work out whether or not it's possible? If I turn the synth layer off then it kills the reverb stone dead and similarly can't turn it down. The only way I could think of doing it was using a split but it's not ideal.

Re: NS4 no effect trail update?
Again, this is a drawback of the design. In the NS2/NS3 reverb was global, so the tail continued even if the sound was stopped. Having individual effects for each layer is great, but the architecture is now changed so that the reverb stops if the sound stops. To quote a famous member here, "the Nord giveth, and the Nord taketh away". You might want to try morphing in the reverb on the piano layer when the string layer stops.
