Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
The possible disappearance of Soft Release is an issue…some samples really benefited from that feature IMO. I also agree that the endless encoders were better than faders because there was never any issue with jumping to values or the positions not matching the settings.

Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
Two thoughts:
The Piano 5 was released four years ago. The Electro 6 was released seven years ago. We should get a new Electro this year!
The images of the Piano 6 have no A11 sample listed. It's blank. Hopefully this means a new Grand is coming.

Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
While I would love to bash Nord for this...because I love Nord, and love bashing them too...I can't get too worked up about how underwhelming this release may be for some. It HAS been four years since the last Piano and it's important to keep a steady flow of releases coming on your product lines. New releases also allow a company to jack up prices and unload old inventory...both of which are essential parts of a capitalist enterprise.
Finally---it's just a digital piano. If that's all I wanted in my life, I'd buy a Yamaha. Nord's Piano is too expensive compared to the competition. And I'm too in love with Sara Bareilles not to:
That said, the seven years since a new Electro IS way too long, and I'm just hoping that something radical might be in the wind here, thus the wait. If they dump an Electro 7 on the market with updates as unimpressive as those on the Piano 6, THEN I'm gonna be a-screamin' and a-hollerin'.
After all, the Electro is possibly the most unique of their offerings, given what it can do. Every maker has a piano, there are several other top-level organs, nobody wants the Grand, and the Stage is a little too premiere for most people in the retail market. Plus it's basically an Electro with a synth added, and is Clavia that much of a leader in the synth market anymore? Don't synth users tend to go elsewhere for their new boards?
SO - the new organ is great and the new piano is a nice sign Clavia still cares about acting like a real company. Now give us that new Electro!!

Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
I totally agree! I’d rather go with a Yamaha CP88/73 instead of an NP6.
If Clavia decides to release the NE7, this new gear will definitely sell better than the NP6 as they might put the new organ’s 3-engine with a compacted NP6 inside. The NE7 will be a hit… I hope so!
The Nord Piano 6 will begin to ship in May 2025. The manufacturer states a price of €3399 for the 73-key model and €3799 for the 88-key version (MSRP). {https://www.gearnews.com}

Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
Another one. More tactile control on small changes, less likely errors on fast little changes and also visual memory on actual level.Super8boy wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025, 10:09I agreeMr_-G- wrote: ↑17 Jan 2025, 22:19Am I the only one who thinks rotary encoders are way way way better than sliders?changearound wrote: ↑17 Jan 2025, 20:31 With the demise of NP5, this means Nord are no longer using endless rotary LEDs on any of their keyboards.
Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
Clavia aren’t, no, and yes synth nerds do go elsewhere. But! Nord’s synth/analog modelling legacy is still massively respected in synth circles. They absolutely could release a Lead A2, for example, and if they got the details right it would be very well received.
The Wave 2 didn’t go down that well. It felt too ‘ROMpler’ for most synth people and it’s a shame that the Wave rather than the Lead engine found its way into Stage 4.

Re: Introducing Nord Piano 6!
And, as happened with the Stage, Grand and Organ lines, the new model is about 1000€ more expensive than the previous.
Nord Stage 3 Compact/76/88: 3000/3200/3500 €
Nord Stage 4 Compact/73/88: 3800/4100/4400 €
Nord Grand: 3000 €
Nord Grand 2: 4000 €
Nord C2D: 2700 €
Nord Organ 3: 3850 €
Nord Piano 5 73/88: 2700/2800 €
Nord Piano 6 73/88: 3350/3750 €
If this trend continues, the various models of the Electro7 will cost between 2800 and 3400€. Still the cheapest (!) Nord stage pianos, but how many customers will be willing to pay so much for an "entry level" keyboard, when there are very decent competitors that cost half as much or even less?
