Price comparison is difficult.

You compare the current reseller price of the NP5 and the suggested retail price of the NP6 since the real street price is not yet known. To be fair you should compare the suggested retail price of the NP5 which is 3.299€, which means the NP6 is just 51€ more expensive at SRP level

Also the Nord Organ 3 price of today cannot be compared to the price of the Nord C2D as this ignores the general price increases / inflation effects that would have affected the C2D over the years.

Similar situations for the Stage and Grand comparisons, so the only fair and objective comparison would be comparing SRP against each other by adding inflation increase to the SRP of the former models of each of these

Two more thoughts (oh, I'm just full of them. Or full of something....)

1) Let's watch and hope for great deals on new, unsold Piano 5s. I sure wouldn't mind having a Nord with a weighted keyboard - I just have an Electro with waterfall and that's not the best for acoustic and electric pianos, as we all know. And given that the Piano 6 ain't much of a game-changer, you won't have much FOMO if you buy a 5. Currently in the US a Piano 5/73 is selling for $3300. Here's to seeing that drop down to $2700 soon.

2) NAMM is right around the corner and Clavia now has two new boards to show off, including the honestly exciting Organ...which means we ain't seeing an Electro in the next week, unless they have gone completely crazed in Stockholm. Do we see it this year? Has Nord ever released two new boards in a year? Back in 2018 they released the Electro 6 and the Piano 4. If the Organ doesn't count, then maybe it could happen!

In my experience the introduction of new products doesn't have a big impact on the "older" models at stores in general.
There are on the other hand some increases in the second hand market, with some potential for bargains.

I remember having bought my Nord C2 back in the days when the C2D was released. I paid for this now "old model" only 1600 EUR instead of the former street price of 2400 EUR. That was quite a bargain (esp. considering that I sold it a couple of years later for 1400 EUR).

Unfortunately, the image on the piano 5 on their website is the same. I’m still hopeful, but I’m not sure this image of the P6 adds weight to the possibility.

As to this release overall, there’s nothing wrong with them doing this. But when I look at the two instruments, the only difference that stands out is the effects. If all you care about is reverb on your pianos, some modulation on your EPs, etc., then finding what will be good deals on the piano 5 makes more sense. Otherwise, I do have to say the changes to the effects on the stage 4 really are awesome versus the 3, and if I were in the market, knowing what I know about having the stage 4, I would get the piano 6 even at the higher price.

Funny though, as I write this, I’m thinking, if I could get a really good deal on the 73 note piano 5, I might jump on it to put it in my small living room, and to grab and go for an informal jam. The upgrades on the 6 just aren’t necessary for that application.

I used Thomann prices of current products (including the NP5 and NP6) with the last Thomann price that I could find on wayback machine for discontinued products. So yes, these are street prices. It's still not a scientific comparison of course (especially for such an ancient product as the C2D) but I think it's the best we can make.

We know that the launch price of new products is a bit high and tends to go down a bit after a while, but not so much.
For example the NS488 was 4900 at launch and is now 4400... a 10% decrease.
We can expect the NP6 to eventually go down to 3200-3400, but not much less I'm afraid.

Thomann shows just SRP for the NP6 by now, while for NP5 they show the SRP and the current street price, with street price at >500€ reduction from the NP5 SRP ……

Do it! I love my short NP5 -- great action, great sounds. The NS4C has all the "extra" firepower for live electric gigs, but I think the short NP5 is just about perfect for acoustic solo/duo/trio.
I think I have gear issues ....

That is wrong.

The Nord Stage 3 was 3500€/3700€/4000€.

3500€ in 2017 is equivalent to 4400€ today, corrected for inflation.

Argh. Well, as Robbie Fulks once said about the chance to date Susanna Hoffs...there's no harm in hopin'.
