Nord Stage 4 Piano Select not working properly
About a month ago I purchased a Stage 4 and I have been excited to explore the many sounds and features. Unfortunately, I am not able to get all of the six piano sounds to work. When I hit the LIST button it only cycles through the three piano modes on the left (GRAND, UPRIGHT, ELECTRIC). I am unable to get any of the three piano modes on the right (CLAV, DIGITAL, MISC). I have tried various combinations of keys and nothing works. The manual and AI refer to a TYPE key, but there is no TYPE key. I called my rep at Long & McQuade and she could not replicate the problem and suggested a complete system restore. I have downloaded the factory restore v1.46 from NORD and I still have the same problem. The distributor rep said it sounded like a hardware problem and I should return the unit for service. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't have a NS4, but looking at the pictures on the nord website for the NS4, the piano section seems like it's pretty similar to my NS3. There isn't a button, its knob that you turn.

The “Type” button is the rectangular button right below the six piano category LED’s. The List knob below that cycles through the pianos in that specific category.

What happens if you press the Piano Select button below the piano categories (see blue arrow)? Do have access to all six types?

... and how Nord Sound Manager shows piano samples and their location in the NS4 instrument memory ?

I would suggest loading the latest OS v1.46 and using the INFO button to move to each Piano type to see if all six can be accessed, and then try the list feature again. If the problem still exists, I would get it serviced while still under warranty. Good luck to you.

Sounds like a fault... but you have DEFINITELY got sounds in CLAV, DIGITAL, MISC, right....? Do check, because if they're empty then you won't be able to select them.
