Lol, the amount of red on it. Cheeky!

Roland stuff is so 'Roland'. Lots of menu diving, lots of stuff you'll never use. But also sounds great, I like their piano engine.

The best outcome of various challenges to Nord is that Nord might finally add a few bells and whistles like audio over USB etc.

I think this is great news.
Nothing forces development more than good and hard competition. If Roland hits the market as a real competitor to Nord, then maybee it will contribute to the release of new samples and other OS and hardware developments.

I think the Roland V looks like a good alternative to the Stage serie, and they sure have pulled som nice features on the V.

I really like the new V-Stage. On paper it's a really great competitor....to the Nord Electro.

But the problem is that it costs as much as a NS4, which has more of everything: 7 parts instead of 4, more effects, more variety of pianos and samples, arguably (to be verified) more versatility and ease of use, etc.

If this was priced to compete with the Electro series, it would be a smashing success. But at Stage4 prices, I see really few reasons to buy it, unless one really can't live without Roland sounds and/or really needs XLR out, audio ins, USB interface and a better connectivity.

Actually it seems priced more in the NP6 range than NS4, see https://www.andertons.co.uk/browse/all- ... lavia+Nord (and historically Roland list prices, as issued at the new product announcement, tend to decrease after not so much time)

You´re right! It´s a nice answer from Roland to the Nord-Concept, but there seems to be no Sample integration and a 61-Keybed is missing in the range to be an Alternative. I had hoped for a new "V-Combo" like the VR-09 (in a similar price-range). As I´m happy with my NS4, I´m not looking for a "Nord-Killer", but for an "extension" Key. So I´m surely not the target-customer for that. But it really looks like a good Job and my best wishes will follow Roland, that they reach their Marketing goals with this key...

... but it´s not only the Price that is different to an Electro - balanced Output, Aftertouch and Pitch+Mod-Wheel settles up the V-Stage from the Electro-Range... But I guess it´s not enough to resist against a Nord-Stage...
... onstage since '78 on the endless (?) hunt for the perfect stage keyboard...

I like the design. Sleek, clean, no strange shapes in the casing. They may thank Nord for the prior work. Even the sides have the same color and texture. I like the customization options in the piano and e-piano. I am personally a little disappointed with Roland's choice to use the PHA4 action for the 88-version though. I would have preferred the PHA-50.

According to Thomann prices, it's in between the NS4 and N6.

NS488:4400€
V-Stage 88: 4100€
NP6 88: 3750€

NS4 Compact: 3800€
V-Stage 76: 3600€
NP6 73: 3300€

Which looks about right, because the features are also in between: it's definitely much more powerful than the NP6, but not as much as the NS4. Again, my impression is that this would be a great board if it was priced below the 3k mark. At this price, I'd go with the NS4 any day, or if I really want Roland I'd just get the full package with the Fantom EX, which costs about the same as the V-Stage.

I dunno -- the Nord Organ 3 looks pretty sweet -- both as a standalone instrument, and as a preview of future organ updates to the Electro and Stage. It looks and sounds like a blast to play.

The Nord Piano 6 was pretty much what I expected -- a turn of the crank with some of the goodies that appeared in the Stage 4.

BTW, I see NS4s everywhere these days -- they must be selling a boatload of them.
I think I have gear issues ....
