Layers not working Stage 4

Just got the Stage 4 88 two weeks ago and was happily creating new sounds using the Layer functionality. Yesterday I was messing around going through some of the tutorials in the user manual and then decided to play for a bit and I tried to create a 2 layered Piano sound. Did the usual isolate piano section press the two buttons together under the sliders. then select piano in the Program section. If I then Press the B button to set focus on piano B (flashing light) and then try to select a different sound with the program dial, focus just returns to Piano A as soon as I turn the dial and it is no longer in Dual mode. Same happens in Organ and Synth sections. Tried a factory reset to 1.46 today and made no difference. Any help would be appreciated, and apologies in advance if I'm being a thicky .

Moving the main program dial will cause your current work to be erased, unless you save it. I think you want to be moving the piano selection knob or similar.
