Hello,
I'm new to this great forum. First of all, excuse me for my english.
Here's the thing: I'm playing in a cover band (trio to be more specific) in which I also play bass with my left hand. I recently bought a NS2 (BTW it's an every keyboardist's dream come true) and as I said I'm looking for a synth bass that is not so synth-ish. I can't find any synth bass sounds in the presets that wouldn't oscilate and modulate and......-ate in any way.
So my point is: I'm kind of new to all sorts of synthesis and sound tweaking and I would like to have a very simple sounding synth-bass sound that is close to e-bass, but NOT a sample of a fender precision or any other bass guitar. Am I on the right adress?
Nord user forum ROCKS!!!

Hi !
Any example of the sound you're looking for ?
You talk about a cover band, what are the group that you play ?

Re: looking for a ''non-synth-ish'' synth bass
It's a trio (myself on keyes/bass/back vocals, guitarist/singer and drummer/back-vocals) and we play some blues, rock'n'roll, soul, pop stuff.
I did a couple of gigs with hammond bass sound (first three drawbars out, without any percussion and a little of overdrive) and it worked just fine, but the main problem with this sound is that it has an infinite sustain, no decay. Otherwise it's a great bass sound.

Re: looking for a ''non-synth-ish'' synth bass
OK, your band is on a "Doors-like" line up
So, you could try some Fender Rhodes Bass sample ? the are some new samples to download on the forum.
I'm affraid that with a synth bass, your sound becomes a bit ... synthetic
I mean, if you play some rock or blues songs, I don't think that a synth bass will be something really good
personally I would stay on a piano, electric piano or organ bass, something acoustic in fact
