RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Hi Leo,
That's brilliant man. I am glad you got the gist of my ad hoc explanation. As I say, it's all a bit pie in the sky at the moment.
I will try and check out all the above when I get home later this evening.
Best,
Paul

Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Thank you very much Berretje,
Is that Roland's SoundCloud page?
I put in a SEARCH FOR DEALER but they only come up with USA retailers. Same comments for eBay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from= ... 5573.m1684
Either way, it really does seem very cheaply priced a software! Not sure if that is a good or bad thing?
Ta,
Paul

Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
I looked into R-Mix earlier, and the consensus seems to be that for a budget price it can sometimes do a reasonable job, but it's eclipsed by the very powerful (and very expensive) Isolate from Audioeffects.com:
http://www.audioeffects.com/isolate.html
But since you mentioned later that you had the instrumental version of the track, it seemed obvious that if you could do it for free with what you already had....

Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Cheers Leo,
Been mega busy today so not had much time for music stuff.
Thanks for the LINK. Though it says that the product is "Temporary Unavailable" and also (unless I am wrong) it is for MAC OS.

You didn't mention that you weren't running a Mac.monsterjazzlicks wrote:Cheers Leo,

Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Hi Leo,
I have been offline all weekend as I have just switched from Orange EE to Virgin.
OK, so I totally understood everything you said thanks but then when I came to test everything today, there is a real spanner in the works!
I lined up both the tracks (in Cubase) only to discover that although they are circa the same duration, they are in fact quite different (FORM-wise)! Plus, the Instrumental version is a semitone LOWER than the vocal (original) release! I have no idea why the recording studio would make a vocal-less version on the B-side in a different KEY?
I assumed (incorrectly though understandably) that the B-side cut was just a reproduction of the A-side albeit with the vocal track lifted.
Now, after spending about three hours messing around and downloading/testing different versions (to see if I can find two which pair up), I think I am going to have to find another solution to this problematic scenario. One way might be to TRANSPOSE one of the versions (to match the other) and then just use (ie SLICE) the vocal sections where she is singing over sustained chords (ie. there are no rhythmic events happening). I might be able to drop these in at certain points over the Instrumental track and it sound not too bad.
I do not think there is, readily available, an Instrumental version of the original which matches up 100%. Someone may well have a version themselves, but I don't think one exists on You-Tube or similar (after spending over an hour searching myself).
Otherwise, we may have gone full circle in that I will need to purchase a dedicated software to remove the vocal parts.
Many thanks,
Paul

Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Paul, you can re-pitch a track without increasing its length in Audacity. There might be some artefacts, but perhaps worth a try.
Re: RE: Vocal Isolation Track (help?)
Hi Mr_G,
Ok, thanks. I can run the same process in Cubase. It's called PITCH SHIFT and if you shift it just one or two KEYS, then the artifacts should be minimal (I would think).
Ta,
Paul
