Where to save patches ?

Post by percy's ledge »

Hi,

Very glad I've found this forum. Absolutely love my EX88 !

Firstly, apologies for perhaps the basic nature of my question - technology has never been my forte !

Anyway, just wanted to ask where is the best place to save your patches if you want to have them all in order for a set ? I understand that you'd have to overwrite some of the factory preset sounds wouldn't you as the only spare locations are the "live" ones.

Also, I'm right in thinking that there isn't a way of including the transpose as part of the patch setting ? Would be handy if that function could be included.

Many thanks,
Percy

Hi Percy,

indeed the Stage does not have a seperate Preset and User Patch Memory as all slots are rewritable. So you have to overwrite the Presets you find least useful.
But in any case, you can backup your whole library and also download the Presets from the NORD website, so no worry if you overwrite a preset.
Personally, I completely deleted all presets and started to organize the Patches "from Scratch" according the bands I play with and with the Patches, including some presets so I can easily access them.

Regarding the Transpose, it is indeed only a global setting. And I doubt that it will be changed in the future. Gives an incentive to practice one's chops in the appropriate tune ;-)

In any case, have fun with your 88EX and PS. welcome on the board!
Cheers
Johannes

and you can as well organize patches from your computer with nord manager (you can download the latest one from from clavia site).
you can exchange patches placement very quickly :-)

I deleted all factory presets. Then I have made master-presets of all my bands songs, starting typically from 1.1.

Each new concert I make a set-list, copying the master-presets into, say, 4.1-6.5.

Hi-
I'm new here and arrived this week after my keyboard died during a gig (not a NORD, but $$$). I had wanted to try a NORD for some time, and this crisis provided the opportunity. I've had to very quickly get set up on this new axe so here's my question: When you download a new program such as a new piano, do you have to erase another piano program to fit it in flash (or can I put in place of one of the e-pianos or clavinets)? Example: I want to load the big lady piano (not sure of the name at the moment, the 9' grand piano) which uses lots of RAM, but I'm not sure if I have to erase other grand pianos to load it. Thanks for your help, I've been up two nights running on Red Bull trying to get up and running. BTW, so far, I love the sound of this instument!

Cheers,

Pete

You need to use the Nord Sound Manager program (downloaded on Nordkeyboards.com) to upload sounds on the nord stage. In that program you can also see how much space you have on your nord stage.
You usually have to erase something to get room for something else. And with the grand lady taking up so much space, you might need to erase alot. But connect your keyboard to the program and do some calculation to what sounds will fit and which you want.
You can only upload sounds to their own category (grand lady to the grand piano, rhodes to the E.piano), but you can fit multiple sounds in each category(up to 9 I think).

Hope this helps.

remember , as well , that , if you use piano sounds for live sets , usually you don't need to upload in the nordstage the "large version" of the piano sounds... those sounds are so big becouse they have "down pedal" samples for almost all the keyboard range. Medium size have pedal down samples for the range you usually "use most".... :-)
so , in my experience ,expecially for live sets , you can load "medium" size pianos...so that maybe on your Nordstage you can have one or two more pianos... :-)
hope it helps

Yeah ! i agree.
After trying a lot of variations I recently downloaded the medium 5.0 version of the Yamaha C7 1 as the only grand piano.
I have a Stage Classic Compact.
No Uprights. (this is a pity)
I also have the CP80, 3 E. pianos (I, IV and Sparkletop), Wurly, Clavinet and a French Harpsi.
What else ?
