Considering how Bluetooth protocol works and based on the info on Yamaha website, I don't think you can do the second withouth an iPad/PC/Mac acting as a MIDI router.

In any case it would be good to know if someone has tested this solution for stability and latency, compared to a traditional cabled one.
This is an official response from Yamaha, so with the app dedicated we can rename every single MD/UD and is done...it looks interesting.

Hi,

It is possible to use up to 5 MD-BT01/UD-BT01 simultaneously.

The App “MD-BT01/UD-BT01 Utility” allows you to change the names (*) that appear on an iOS device to suit your preferences when using multiple MD-BT01s and UD-BT01s devices. This utility also keeps your MD-BT01 or UD-BT01 updated with the latest firmware version 1.01.

Initially they appear as "MD-BT01" or "UD-BT01".
Compatibility: Requires iOS 9.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

I use the Apple Lightning To Usb Camera Adapter to play instruments on my iPhone and my iPad air. Works fine and has lightning port to keep it charging. $39.00 USD

Of course as per topic we are connecting a NS with an iPad, it supposed we have got it.
But, a part of today we have a choice of midi routing apps to be used, if we can give different items to the up to 5 BT interface, we could eventually connect two different apps with two keyboards, each app BT compatible can pair with the desired BT interface (so keyboard) without an app doing routings, at least in principle but to be tested.
IF I decide to buy one more MD-BT I will let you know how it works.
In my opinion is a great tool with a cost very similar to the apple adapters, if we can also run a limited BT midi net is a strong point in favour of this little interface
