I'm starting with the sample editor, and I think I'm gonna sample directly the PC3, I hope I will get THE sound :)
It is 3 Violins MkII_Mellotron_v4.
From this Nord set.
Good luck with your sampling project. I look forward to hearing your result.

Cheers, Hanon

Has anyone ever sampled the rhythm tracks and fills of the Mellotron Mk II? M-Tron Pro has a few but I would like more. These are usually on the left keyboard. Here's an example:

Mike Pinder CD ROM contains several of the styles (http://www.mellotron.com/cdlist.htm), kind of the gold standard of Mellotron Samples, but not cheap.
Other (free) Mellotron libraries I am aware of (http://www.leisureland.us/audio/Mellotr ... amples.htm and J. P. Hovercraft's http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/aphex/113/, do NOT have the (pretty nice!!) Styles ;-(
Indeed it would be great though!! Really vintage accompaniement, maybe NORD could hunt down one of the few MkI or MkII's so they could release them some day!

Me also likes the accompaniements of the early Mellotrons.
I had asked at some point already the guys from mellotronics.co.uk who can provide you with the original tapes. However, they told me they ONLY sell them as tapes, no digital version available ;-( So so far according to my knowledge, the only ones available are
from the CD-ROM by Mike Pinder:
Foxtrot/Sax Phrases
Dixie Land/Trombone
Cha Cha/Swinging Flutes
Bungalow Bill Guitar intro
Moving Bass/Cello and Violin Chords (block)
Bossa Nova/Cello and Violins Moving Chords

from M-Tron PRO:
16-18 keys samples (rythms/fills) from the following seven categories:

Bossa Nova
Dixieland
Foxtrott
Samba
Slow Foxtrott
Slow Waltz
Viennese Waltz

Indeed not too many, but that's all I guess. I really would like to hunt down someone who has a MkII to sample them!!

Maybe the Optigan Samples are an alternative?

Nord just release some samples from the Optigan (who also had this fills/rythm patterns): http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?t ... slib=Synth

Maybe one day they will also release the rythms/fills if they already have the rights for the samples?? Would love that!!!

Everyone concentrates on the right hand sounds like Flute, Strings, etc. Does someone have a complete set of the Mellotron MkII left keyboard fills and rhythms samples? A few of these sounds have appeared on recordings like Bungalow Bill (Beatles) and Phenomenal Cat (The Kinks).
Personally, I'd like to see a dual keyboard with mini keys (like MicroKorg XL) that has all left and right keyboard samples with pitch dial like original Mellotron Mk II.

I think the ones that come with the nord are perfect as is. Especially #10 in sample library.
The left hand part would be great... like the opigan...

I love the chamberlian sounds also

Actually I'm looking for a quiet low sound of Mellotron, something sounding like the begining of this video :

If you're able to do that, I'll send you a bottle of wine ;)

Yves.
