there are no internet posts that will help you understand the action of a keyboard go and try one.
I did in fact buy one based on the sound, and have no regrets. I programmed it for two weeks (easy and fun) and have played a couple of gigs with it. Keyboard is fine and, like you observe, I never think about it when playing, it responds fine, is quick, and I believe will serve for a long time.

So. They are compatible on the connection side, but you will have to drill new mounting holes for the screws, because the design is different. So not as easy as swapping a TP9 and a TP8, but definiteley worth a try.
I agree, that the keybed is not bad in terms of feeling, there are plenty of other keybeds around, that a really horrible compared to the TP7. But the velocity response is just really bad and makes deep velocity modulation not controllable.

@Duplobaustein: was this the post you were thinking about?

Has anyone made this conversion (Lead with TP/9S) with good result?

For a keybed you could also get a used Novation remote SL 49, swap the keybeds and sell it for some money back.
Hey guys,
I love my A1, but hate the keybed. I've modded mine with different insulation materials, so at least it doesn't feel so clattery when playing anymore. But the velocity control is still poor, so I decided to change the keybed. I was very interested to read here that you can apparently install a tp9 and only have to reset the holes. Now I tried it and bought a used Novation Remote SL49. Today it arrived and i am surprised that the keybed has different connector - a big one instead of 2 smaller ones!
I am confused - is the keybed not a TP9? I attached a pic. Maybe someone can help me?
Thanky very much!!

That's not a TP9, nope. Its a Chinese fake knockoff. The Prophet 12 uses the 61 key version of the same model. I hate it and prefer the A1's actual Fatar action by far.

Oh, crap

Then either the information must not be correct that a TP9 is installed in the Novation Remote SL 49 or someone must have exchanged the TP9 at the device...
I had also wondered because it also felt inferior to what i had expected...

Damn. Someone obviously switched it. The Remotes have the TP9 usually.

The TP9 has different dimensions, they are not interchangeable with this keyboard directly (the TP9 is longer by up to a cm, and has a different depth in the hinge area). Also the electrical interface is different, as you noticed. You cannot just drop one in for another. So likely either the reports they have TP9s is wrong or there are multiple versions of the SL49 with different keybeds.

You mean the TP9s and the chinese fake are not directly changable? And just to be safe: the TP7 of the A1 and the TP9s are changeable (besides the mounting holes)? So I might try a used Remote SL49 MkII... or buy a TP9s directly at Doepfer's - I am not so keen on a second failed attempt

The TP7 and TP9 are different: different size, electronics, everything. Surely they could be exchanged, but changing also the connections, probably a daughter board...definitely not just a matter of drilling a few holes. And the new keys will hang outside the chassis, being longer.
