OTOH, there are people who posted that the NE5D, with no overdrive assigned at all, still sounds too dirty, they wanted a cleaner option like earlier models. So maybe Nord was intentionally addressing this, giving a cleaner sound by default, requiring you to add at least a bit of overdrive to ballsy it up.

Yeah. People were complaining that the NS2 Hammond has grit even when on the cleanest setting.

I haven’t set to detailed programming yet, but as long as I can get the NS3 HAMMOND sounding exactly like the NS2 (which I LOVE), except with the better Leslie (122 close), I’ll be a happy camper. I like ‘em dirty.

For a minute I thought you were saying that the NS3 has a CV input/output!

I've been working hard on my Organ settings on the NS3C. I can get a decent sound out of it, but here are my observations.

* Really need LOTS of EQ to get a piercing lead sound.
* The Chorus really sounds like another level of vibrato and not in a good way. Other implementations make the sound shimmer, on the Nord, it makes the sound Waver.
* C1 Chorus is hardly noticeable. I would like to see a knob assigned to vary the chorus and vibrato.
* It's really interesting the Piano and synth sections have a Shift+List function to scroll through programs, but there is nothing similar other than Preset 1 & 2 for the Organ Section. Perhaps those with Nord history can comment on the evolution or lack thereof of this feature? Doesn't a real B3 have an Octave of presets?
* Overdrive and EQ Drive are perfect for getting dirty.
* Percussion is also UNDERSTATED; all the right tools are there, but it just seems to be underwhelming; for MY taste.
* I wish I could change the default setting for the Leslie to be ON at startup / Organ selected.

Regarding percussion being understated, try reducing some of the drawbars. It won't cut through with all the stops out. I can't recall if the real Hammond was any different.

Also am I missing something the the fast decay percussion 2nd harmonic seems a lot louder on older NS2 it seems to have more bite and also a better scanner sound. Both vintage 1. The chorus settings are almost not noticeable compared to my ns2. If not corrected I would have to return unit.
