You need to test it yourself. Some of us like it better than the previous editions and some don't. Also, just to comment on your previous point: I have no problems playing pianissimo on the board.ChillOnTheSun wrote:The keyboard of Stage 3 88 is more improved than Stage 2EX88, the weight and the type is just the same, is it problem only in velocity curves which are "lighter"?Streef wrote:Hi ChillOnTheSun,
I would not buy NS3 -88 without trying it first at the shop. It does not play in any way the same as a Nord Piano or the Nord Stage 2-88

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Totally Agree with you. But we need that the sounds (not only velocity) from sample goes to -2-1 0 +1 +2 (0 - 127) and so on, in a "hard" way. That is control on piano. Pianissimos and Fortíssimos, pedaling, half pedaling, stacattos and legatos, articulations, without theses things, a Digital Piano would sounds like MIDI played by a computer.ChillOnTheSun wrote:Back to velocity curves, it seems that for trained pianist it will be very difficul to play dynamically on Nord Stage 3 HA88 with current velocity curves?? Is that right? Every increase of KBD touch to 1,2,3 will only make keyboard less "interactive" in dynamics...is that the issue? Have anyone some respond from Clavia if it will be fixed? I am considering to buy Stage 3 88 but I am pretty scared of that velocity "problem"...Pianists really need "hard" response from keyboard. If they want to play fortissimo they want and know to put fingers very hard and opposite to pianissimo...with actual velocity curve even set to 0 it seems that you will hear fortissimo sound even if you don´t play very hard...I have no chance to try Stage 3 88 anywhere around... real piano player should need KBD touch to set to -1, -2. Not to +1 , +2, +3 ... Are there any experiences from "real" piano players? Did I understood discussed issue?

Guys remenber that I played on compact! Which I Kind of like the action (in both, NS3 is newer so keybed, springs, are still hard so I kind of like it, but lighter keys is also good to play too, more pleaseant if it respondes what you play)

You play the compact models, and still you complain so much?
Wow. I find the response of the Stage 3 compact SO MUCH better than the Stage 2 compact, especially for pianos...funny.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Maybe I did not make myself clear, but I found the key ACTION of Stage 3 BETTER (not SO much but better) than Stage 2 too. I liked to control NS2 through it (despite of the fact you CAN'T get the "no sound note" when playing very lilghtly when controlling), NS2 sounds better played through NS3 than itself, IMO. So, what I did not like on NS3 was the resulting sound when you play it.analogika wrote:You play the compact models, and still you complain so much?

I have found them, at least until now, without the 3D image, without the depth or articulation and especially without the dynamics I get in Nord Stage 2. When I mention this dynamic, I mean when I play "ppp" I want to hear a really "ppp" note with all the subtlety, lightness and dark, velvety feature of this "ppp". Just as when I play an "fff" or "sf" (sforzando) what I want to hear is that popped sound of the hammer hitting the strings, almost screaming and bringing all the ambiance and resonance of the grand pianos or all the innocence of the uprights . It's almost like it has a very subtle velocity-controlled filter, almost.

I love and appreciate the passion in your description.
As much as I hope they leave the default for the Stage 3 as it is, because it is much closer to me and touches me more deeply, I truly wish for you to be as passionately happy about the Stage 3 as you are about the Stage 2.
Much love and respect.

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
That's a long-standing bug, the NS2 has it as well. When played from it's own keys, MIDI velocity 1 produces no tone (but it affects resonances of other notes); but over MIDI, MIDI velocity 1 is no longer silent. This means not only do you not get the "silent keypress" ability when playing the Nord from another keybord, but also, if you record into a DAW and use a silent keypress, it will not playback properly when played back from the DAW back into the Nord.aureliopenna wrote:I liked to control NS2 through it (despite of the fact you CAN'T get the "no sound note" when playing very lilghtly when controlling)

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
Sorry for being so passionate guys, I really love these keyboards since NS1 because they has this natural playing touch and sound response, that I have never found in another gear.analogika wrote:I love and appreciate the passion in your description.

I bought NS3 with full expectations, and I lost the fun of playing on it. I feel that it doesn't speak to me anymore, like a I can not produce music through it any longer.
When My Second Hand NS2 came home I expended so many night on it. My wife struggles with me to I go to sleep, but I just couldn't stop playing, was so fun, so pleasant. Now I'm here, writing down in this forum my own complains instead of playing, while it is still downstair turned off...
Jesus!! Here I am getting emotional again!! But theres no music with it anyway...

Re: NS3 Velocity and General Sound vs NS2
These are the same sample from the Rhodes MKI Suitcase Close Ideal.
Waveform augmented
As you can see, sound cames early and out late on NS2... Could sound a little shallow say that, but, IMHO it means somehow NS2 has less latency, and long release (as the Real Rhodes do).
