Same like me, I'm really interested on the Stage 4, but without Song Mode, no way... Actually I'm playing in 3 different bands and song mode is existential.

Hope, Nord will do an update soon...

Yes, you have to go back to program mode to save an edit, but that is a single button push and certainly not confusing at all after doing it once. I think the reason they did it has more to do with the architecture change than anything.

I feel the same way. I have been using Song Mode in the NS3 for years now and it is a really great feature. The NS4 looks like a great keyboard, but there is nothing about it which is pulling me to move from the NS3/Wave2 combination.

If I had that combination I would have a hard time justifying the move, especially losing Song Mode in the process.

Plain & Simple for me! I bought my STAGE 3 COMPACT because I wanted to size way down! So why the heck would I buy the NS4C for mega bucks. Then buy extra gear to work song mode??

Because song mode is a very basic implementation of a set list manager that is handled way more effectively on a tablet with purpose built software and an interface you can actually type into and display more than a couple of lines of cryptic text at a time.

Also, presumably you are still creating and carrying set lists with you. So if you use a tablet you get set lists, charts and a fully functional master midi controller that isn’t tied directly to a specific keyboard and can be modified sitting on your couch without needing your keyboard present.

True, but Nord didn't break your solution with their rollout of the NS4 and force you to look for another if you wanted to upgrade. Song Mode conveniently enables song and setlist management for many users who don't need all of the features other apps may provide.

Maybe Nord should change the name to "Nord Studio 4", because it surely isn't "stage" friendly any longer.

I'm just learning about the removal of songs after receiving my S4. As I understand it, the preset is not a replacement for the song but rather a way to select a specific configuration of sections and effects. I know that a lot of musicians use the Stage as their gigging keyboard, how are they supposed to quickly get around to different sounds? This decision seems to be (no pun intended) tone deaf on the part of Nord.

This breaks as soon as you use a program on more than one song.

This is exactly what the Nord product specialist at NAMM suggested as a workaround, which as you pointed out doesn't work where use the same program (s) in multiple songs without duplicating programs. Hopefully Nord will release a song/scene function in a future release.
