Keyboard Corner Forums Discontinued ??!!

Hi,

I just found out that apparently the musicplayer forums have been taken offline and it says they are discontinued??!
http://forums.musicplayer.com/

This includes our beloved Keyboard Corner - the biggest keyboard community on this planet!
This, if true would be a big loss and without any notice, really incredible!

Since KSS (Keys, Synths & Samplers) started to decline due to several forum software issues and updates some years ago, this would mean that of the two go-to addresses for keyboard players, also the second community is now gone. :?

Maybe there is a way back, let's hope for the moment...

Cheers,
Johannes

Hi Johannes, a forumer of the Italian supportimusicali.it forum reported the same yesterday + a link to a site where some KCF forumers are trying to save/restore its content http://keyboardcorner.boards.net/

Wow that was a fast recreation, and already lots of postings, incredible to see all the dedication of the nice guys over at KC.

After all, there are a lot of talented musicians over there and with about 200 posts per day it is THE resource to get professional advice on keys (http://www.norduserforum.com/admin/graph_smooth.htm)

UPDATE: Just saw they revoked the decision and will (temporarily?) reactivate the original forum.

Dear Forum Users,
We apologize for discontinuing the Music Player Forums without advance notice or warning.
We've absolutely taken into account your disappointment, and, as a result, we are turning the forums back on in their current forms temporarily. They should be active again by mid-day Pacific Time, Friday, January 8, 2015.
Please understand that we made the shutdown decision abruptly because we have serious security concerns with the hardware and software that houses the forums. Other sites in our group have been under almost constant attack from hackers trying to gain access and shut us down.
In addition, we have not had a direct business case for keeping the forums active, so it seemed quite reasonable from an operations standpoint to discontinue them and not have to worry about hackers or other security issues.
However, we agree with you all that we acted too fast.
Regarding the future of the forums, we promise to either build a business case and implement another hardware and software solution, or find another business that would be willing to house the archives and continue the forums.
We also promise to notify you in advance of any change in the status of the forums.
Thanks for all your feedback. We ARE listening.
Sincerely,
Sorry, but this justification is really BAD communications! Getting it back temporarily(WTF) is not really encouraging users to come back, missing business case OK fair enough but that insight cannot have come overnight, and security issues obviously serious topic but can be dealt with. So my prediction is it is going to take the same road as KC basically dwarfing posts from the 200s to about 1 per day.

Maybe KC2, the link you shared, will be the way to go. Let's see how it evolves, hopefully was well conceptualized to be able to be future-proof.

Should we fear ? be scared ? if it's real and group wise, then it's worldwide, do they talk about cyber terrorism then ?

Edit : I believe the ansers are no, no and no, but have no figures / reports / info about attacks.

It's probably a case of "once bitten, twice shy". I think the people on that forum are smart and experienced enough to be able to set up and run something of their own, without worrying about what's going to happen next. While the KC wasn't my cup of tea, I think what happened was pretty disgraceful, and I hope they can get an equivalent forum going successfully and secure themselves a good long term future with it.
