Dirty B3 sound

Hi All,
how do I get that overdriven B3 sound. Is it a fast lesley and then turn up the "drive" knob? Cos I have tried that and it doesn't seem to do anything.I have also tried altering the setting in the "system" menu I think there are 4 options which are supposed to give anything from a smooth organ to a real dirty one but again it doesn't seem to do much on my E3.
Any help with how to get different "classic" B3 sounds would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
is there a particular song with the sound that you're looking for?
Overdriven B3/ Leslie doesn't seem like it would be that diverse, but it is.

Hi Hanon,
not sure really, but Give me some loving by Spencer Davis Group would be the most distorted I would use I think.
Thanks for your help.

You need to crank the volume up high so that the drive kicks in. Without using any pedals, turn the master volume up high (turn your speakers down). Then bring in the drive. Should give you what you want. You will need a fairly midrange sound (something from all drawbars) for best effect. I have the exact sound from Spencer Davis Gimme Some Lovin. You can hear it here:

Did you tryout the Farfisa and VOx libraries they published couple months back? They have some very nasty Organs (obviously no Hammond, but if you change the Model, the Rock xx settings are TOP IMHO.)

Hi Paul,
I agree with everything DJKeys said, but would like to add that an overdriven B3/ Leslie sound is best with a good contingent of upper drawbars "higher harmonics".
B3 drawbar settings with just the bottom 3 or 4 drawbars tend to turn quickly to mud.

The bottom end usually tries to take over which can be controlled by pushing the first three drawbars in a little
Most organ players use the "flat out" setting for gimme' some lovin' . In other words, most use the 888888888, I prefer 567888888 No chorus or vibrato, rotary speaker on slow "just for the intro" Drive set at about 5 to 6.
The keyclick and vintage model # aren't really that important for this one.
This same basic sound works in a variety of genres:
Kansas: The Portrait "He Knew"
Styx: Blue Collar Man

Hi DJKeys,
I heard your version, it sounds great!
It's not the original version that I'm most familiar with.
This is the one that I hear in my head:

That sounds great as well. I have my B3 setting on the v3, most beat up version. I have always loved that sound and have not been able to even get close until I got the NE3!

Where did your snippet come from?
