The synth pulse is pretty straightforward to recreate. Start with a warm pad sound, set the LFO to a square wave synced to the master tempo at 1/8th notes, turn up the filter LFO knob until you’re getting the pulsing effect. You might also need to turn the freq control down a bit.

Re: for worship musicians, anyone know how to duplicate
This one is tricky actually. For me, my band plays to a click and while I can set the LFO frequency to a BPM, there's no way to set the LFO to start on keypress. Inevitably, I play the pad with the LFO and it starts on some arbitrary beat that doesn't align with the click. There's no way to fix this, except to have the whole band try to play along to the LFO frequency, which is a dicey proposition. So, while the Nord can technically do this sound, for me it's not actually possible to accomplish it live. That said, the song doesn't suffer much from only having a pad without the LFO movement in my opinion.

Sample it then! But i cant belive its not possible on NS2 ( would be very strange)!

Re: for worship musicians, anyone know how to duplicate
JazzDoc52,
We play "Do It Again" occasionally, and I just use straight pads with a bit of blueSky shimmer cross-faded in. Sometimes the extra hassle of making something sound the same just isn't worth the bother - especially when other than the band, no-one notices .
Besides, Michael W Smith's version doesn't use the pulsing pad, and I actually prefer that arrangement to the original.

I’ve only played this on NS3, so not sure if it’s possible on NS2, however it is possible on NS3: You need the master clock keyboard sync (KBS) set to “On”, so that the pulse LFO starts in sync when you play. The rest of the band is on the drummer’s click which is the same BPM. The keyboard sync on NS3 takes care of any minor timing differences with the rest of the band provided the BPM is the same.redisred wrote:This one is tricky actually. ***Edit: Just took a quick look at the NS2 manual, an it looks like it doesn't have a keyboard sync feature for the master clock, so on NS2 you would be stuck with a fixed LFO frequency.
One of my big frustrations with the Nord Stage is that you can’t (easily) send a click out to the drummer so that timed effects, arps etc. work well. The keyboard sync makes up for some of that frustration.

Ah! Master Clock Keyboard sync, that's what I need! Grrrrr, dang you NS3 and your many appealing features that I can't afford.

Interestingly, the keys appear to be played live on a Stage 2 (EX) here: -- but I guess the synth part could potentially come from some other MIDI'ed board.

Only few keyboards like Roland have built-in click outputhoopyfrood wrote:

Even in my Motif xs its tricky . Usually i play with drummer who has his own metronome and i try to play simutaniously.
As i stated earlier.Resample and play with "click" drummer.
Goid luck.
