Nord 3P random ghost notes on midi playback
Hi
Can anyone help?
My Nord Drum 3P plays fine but creates additional random ghost notes on midi playback, I've read a bit that it might be a unit fault but want to check everything before sending it back. Is it a common fault and if the unit is OK, what else could it be? My midi settings are Lo:On, GL10, CH:Of, nt:60, PC:Sr, CC:Sr, SEnd. I'm using a MacBook Pro (15inch 2019), OS 10.14.6, Pro Tools 2019:12.0 through a Focusrite Clarett 8PreX Any help would be great.

Hi, are you playing back a recorded track? Can you check in the MIDI string being sent out (using a MIDI monitor program) whether those notes are actually nonexistent in the MIDI track?

Hi oliverbetts, welcome to the forum!
Interesting..
I agree with Mr G to check what MIDI messages are coming from the MIDI interface. Perhaps some MIDI effect is applied in the DAW, perhaps your MIDI interface or cabling is the culprit. What MIDI interface are you using?
Do these 'ghost' notes occur completely randomly, or is there a pattern in these notes?
Perhaps try to switch Local off (Lo:Of), to prevent any 'spontaneous' triggering from the pads, which can occur when pad threshold settings are too low / sensitivity settings are too high..
If the 3p's MIDI Out is connected to the MIDI interface, check if the problem still occurs when you disconnect that cable.
Does it occur with one drum channel on the 3p or with more?
Cheers,
Albert

Re: Nord 3P random ghost notes on midi playback
Im having the same issue. when mine is plugged in MIDI and i hit record or play back it triggers sporatic ghost notes that do make it to the final recording. I figured out it was the KICK input jack! Once that was unplugged everything was fine. the kick jack is FAULTY by design. Nord quality is really not..........the best.wartaler wrote:Hi oliverbetts, welcome to the forum!

Interesting,
Are the random notes only on drum channel 1?
Did you try raising the threshold for the kick trigger input? maybe it's picking up some rfi from the MIDI input or cable..

Everything has been adjusted on my end. the nord is just faulty in many ways unfortunatley.wartaler wrote:Interesting,
