I'm going to be playing in a new band with up to 100 songs I have to learn in a very short period of time.Thinking about using my Galaxy A8 as a prompter- chord changes and settings. How are you guys doing it, and what devices are you using to hold that tablet? Lots of options on Amazon, but need some ideas/recommendations.

Hi there! I was on the same boat as you needing a clamp to hold, in my case, an iPhone. I used this:



Neewer 6-11 inches Adjustable Music Mic Microphone Stand Tablet Mount.

It attaches to a mic stand. Works well for me. It's able to hold something as large as an 11" iPad Pro as well.

Having an Android tablet and a Windows computer, I use MobileSheets Pro as software. It accepts PDF files as well as ChordPro files.

To get it fixed, I use a K&M tablet holder.

There's a bigger (19790/19791) and a smaller one (19795/19796) - check your dimensions! You can either attach it on top of a mike stand (without arm) or as a side boom to the stand (with arm). It's easily rotated from landscape to portrait mode.

I’m using the K&M 19743/19744 - holds tablets very firm and is very flexible.

I have a K & M 18880 stand with 18881 stackers.I'll have to measure to see which holder is better. It doesn't help that my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so the tablet can't be too far away

I use that K&M as well. And I prefer mounting to the keyboard stand, rather than the common approach discussed here so far, mounting to a mic stand. For one thing, if you're not a singer, you may not already have the mic stand there, so that would be another piece to bring and set up, and on a tight stage, more footprint to deal with. Also, unlike a guitar/bass player (or vocalist who plays no instrument), it can be harder for a singing keyboard player to place the mic stand in such a way as to also serve as a tablet holder. And weaker eyes (meaning probably a desire to keep the tablet on the close side) can become another complication there.

It's nice that the K&M have square pieces you can mount things to. Most keyboard stands seem to use round pieces which are harder to attach something to with stability. There are a number of mounts that can lock onto square pieces nicely. In my case, I also wanted it to have a lot of flexibility to work around different ways I set up my keyboards, and I also wanted to be able to keep it close, so I specifically looked for something with good extension and adjustability, and I wanted something that could even hold my 12.9" iPad Pro. I ended up really liking the KDD mount at https://amzn.to/3ZM7Lgc, though I learned you can't safely leave it attached to the stand during transport.


Another good possibility could be this one from Tzumi: https://amzn.to/3QPGUvB%20. I know both of them have clamp sections that open up wide enough to fit over the support arms of the K&M.

I have experimented a bit in the past years and ended with a silicone pad where my iPad sticks on - see foto, the white on the right.

I also tried what we call a Swan Neck, looking similar to the white one of the previous post, but the neck not quite as long. Although it was a rather stiff one, it wasn‘t able to hold my iPad stiff at its position without wobbling when I‘m playing heavy. So not my way to go.

All the constructions that need an extra stand or can be mounted at the microphone stand are not my choice either because I fear that somebody on stage runs into it. A tablet is too expensive to risk that.

I‘m not 100 % happy with my solution. For some sheet-intensive songs I‘d prefer to have it more in the middle, in front of my eyes. If only nord could make an electro 7 with some free space in the center of the console …

The micro stand I use is actually attached to the keyboard stand. Unfortunately, I don't know a solution for the K&M 18880 - I just know of adapters for the universal holder on the 18810/18820 or 18950/18953.

Yeah... the first one I posted keeps the tablet steady, the second would be more wobbly.

Many Nords have an optional music stand which would be perfect for this... though only if there's no keyboard above it. If it's, for example, on the bottom of a 2-board stack, that won't work. Though whatever you're using for an upper board might have a music stand option, too.

Yes, just laying it on the board can work when there's space (e.g. on an Electro, but not a NS3 Compact). Some velcro or similar can keep it there, too. What I've also done on some boards is to velcro a small mount to the surface of the board. That can give you a better viewing angle, but also, you can get by with a smaller amount of free panel space. I'm talking about mounts like the one at https://amzn.to/3XHIZf5 -

Hm... in the first two pictures (tablets in portrait mode) it seems to me that the tablets could easily slide down, no stops, just pressure from the sides...
