I really would like to experience a Nord. My setup would only fit a rack/desktop version.
Nord Lead A1R
Nord Rack 3
Nord Lead 4R
I'm having a difficult time choosing between these 3. I can't demo any of them in person. YouTube videos and forums are my only options.
I'm not trying to do a certain "thing" with a Nord. I'm a noodler =D.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
MH

Re: Nord Rack Experience
Any of them are excellent. If you have no personal preference, get whichever you can obtain at a reasonable price and enjoy it.

Re: Nord Rack Experience
I don't own any of them, but here's some things to consider: A1 is more simplified than the other two, great synth for a beginer that will make it easier to create sounds on the fly, but it has only one oscilator per layer (with the ability to transform from one wave to another though). 3 and 4 are more versatile regarding oscilators and LFO's. The 3 has no onboard effects, you have to use external ones, however it has some filters that are unique and take sound scaping to another level. All of them are great machines in their own way. Good luck chosing....

Re: Nord Rack Experience
I see you did not include the NL2x rack in your list: is it by purpose or maybe you are not aware it exists?

Re: Nord Rack Experience
Man,
I have the Nord LEad 4R and is a beast. I bought it recently, second hand...
multitimbrical, 4 layers, FXs and tons of polyphony.
My other gear: Moog subarmonicon, Korg ARP 2600M, Korg KingKORg, Roland Jupiter-80, Mood DFAM, Elektron Analog Four mk2, Oelektron Octatrack, Vermona perFOURmer, Erica Synths DB-01...
And today I'm playing with the NORD LEAD 4R....
Go for it, sounds like a beast.
Here a couple of my videos. Feel free to reach me to any question.
