Piano 5 vs Grand 2
Piano 5 vs Grand 2
So…
Other than the keybed, what's the difference between the two? I've scoured the internet, but all that happens is my eyes bleed.
Help!
Jeff

Re: Piano 5 vs Grand 2
The overall form factor is pretty different with the tilted panel on the NG2 etc.

Re: Piano 5 vs Grand 2
A few small details separate the two, none of which are relevant to me. There's dynamic compression on the NG2 as well as the LED sliders from the NS4, for example, which the NP5 doesn't have. The NG2 packaging is very impressive, but there's no handy short version as with the NP5 that I gig with.
If I was looking for a premium home digital piano instrument, the NG2 would be on my short list. But I'm not, so I'm quite happy with the NP5 for gigging. There *is* a small perceptible difference between the actions on the NG2 vs the NP5, but it's not relevant to my situation.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Piano 5 vs Grand 2
Just for clarification: the Piano 5 does have the Dynamic Compression feature (at least the Rev. B):
The main differences (besides the keybed and the form factor) of the Grand 2 are the fader-per-layer + effect-per-layer concepts, both adapted from the Stage 4.Nord Piano 5 + Nord Piano Monitors, Nord Stage 4 Compact + other stuff

Re: Piano 5 vs Grand 2
The Grand 2 uses a more advanced sound engine with more detailed sampling,Slope Game especially in its acoustic piano sounds, giving it a richer, more nuanced tone compared to the Piano 5.

Re: Piano 5 vs Grand 2
No question the Grand 2 sounds richer and more nuanced than the Piano 5 - but how can you be sure it has a more advanced sound engine? I'm not that convinced but instead believe this is because of the great key action.
