piano sounds missing middle octave

Post by mud bay steve »

I recently opened up my nord 6d 73 to fix keyboard contacts. When I got it put back together, the middle octave of piano sounds does not work. Everything else seems fine. Organ and synth are ok. Any ideas?

thanks

Perhaps the rubber contacts are not positioned correctly?

+1

Every key has 2 contacts: upper and lower. Organ doesn't need velocity, so one contact is enough; piano needs both contacts to calculate velocity through the time lap between both. So you might have set the contact rubber or connected the different contact rubbers in a wrong way.

I recommend double checking the insertion of the cables from the keybed to the motherboard.

Good advice. I found that I needed to offset one of the ribbon connectors to the other side (one ribbon end is shorter).

Things work fine except I get an error on boot up: - keyboard error = storage failure - press exit

I press exit and all is well. As far as I can tell everything is working as it should.
