Hey all,
We recently purchased a Grand 2 at our church and I was wondering if there were any B3/Leslie patches out there. I know we probably won't get an exact patch but hoping we can get a few to try. Is there a good starting point if I were to try and create one from scratch. What companies have some nice samples to try. What are some of your favorite String/Pad/piano combos? Thanks in advance.

Nice choice of digital piano there -- but you'll find it comes up short when it comes to B3 organ tones. If you search this forum, you'll find a number of sampled Hammonds here -- with and without Leslie -- that can be downloaded and used via Nord Sound Manager. Although now that I think about it there's still this issue about upconverting older samples.

I'm not aware of anyone putting out relevant programs specifically for the Nord Grand 2, though.

Some quick thoughts?

- There's a surprising amount of range via the sample section -- you'll be surprised.
- I'd invest the time to go through the programs one by one, and see how they're done.
- Spend time playing around and saving the stuff you like, that's what it's good at.
- Fully explore the shipped samples before venturing off into new ones, they can do. lot.
- You can do wonderful piano textures with two piano engines, so I'd invest time there. Same for FX.

Although the preset programs are great, the real power of the instrument is in creating entirely new textures.

If you find yourself really missing the organ tones -- and you might -- I'd suggest a used Nord Electro or similar on top.
