Midi signal is not coming through

I use the MIDI in/out output on my Stage Ex with a MIDI cable interface, via > (USB A to USB C adapter) > into my MacBook Pro. I use MIDI Monitor to monitor my signals. It works on my old MacBook, but it just has a USB-A input so I don’t need the adapter. Could it be the USB adapter?, because I also use my studio logic with the adapter and the signal is just coming through like it should.

gear:
- Stage Ex
-Midi Cable interface (brand unknown)
-Hub (Satechi Type-C Multi-Port Adapter)
- Macbook Pro 2021

Can anyone tell me what is going wrong?

It could be the adapter not providing enough current to the MIDI interface cable, better use a powered usb-c hub with USB A ports rather than a bare unpowered usb-c to USB-A adapter

You may try that, as USB is a bunch of miracles - but usually, USB 3.x (USB-C) should provide even more power than USB 2.0 (USB-A/B).

I haven't tested my ESI DIN-MIDI > USB-MIDI converter cable with a USB-C adapter yet - exactly because I was wondering if that would work. I tend to look after a genuine DIN-MIDI > USB-C converter as I suppose this will consume less of my lifetime. Or we'll all find out on the forum because someone already got some experience...
