Hi guys, I am a guitarist (sorry) and have just inherited a 6D from my late keys player and want to start using it live. I've read the manual but need one thing clarified before I go out and purchase a second keyboard.
I am trying to have the 6D basically covering organ/piano and use an external keyboard for some brass and synth parts. So, the question is: When using the External Keyboard To Lo option, is it possible to accomplish the following:
6D keyboard split with Organ to the left of the split and piano to the right of the split (not organ and piano layered together)
6D Sample Synth set to External Keyboard Lo
Many thanks in advance
Colin

Re: Newbie Question - Using Keyboard Lo
Hi Colin, unfortunately answer is negative. When you enable ExternToLo you basically assign the NE6 Lower part to the MIDI External keyboard and so you have only the upper left for NE6 (you can still layer sections on it but of course no split)

Re: Newbie Question - Using Keyboard Lo
Thank you so much for the quick reply - saved me having to try and get an external midi keyboard and set it all up only to find it doesn't do what I wanted. Much appreciated, thank you.

Re: Newbie Question - Using Keyboard Lo
The Nord Stage allows what you want - but the Electro has only 2 split sections.
But as a guitarist - isn't 2 additional keys sounds enough? Then you might want to swap your Electro for a workstation keyboard. They usually have the better brass sounds, too.

Re: Newbie Question - Using Keyboard Lo
I'm just trying to make my life easier (obviously not the load in/out and setup and there are a number of songs where the least number of buttons I need to press (very hard for a guitarist as we usually use our feet - it's an evolutionary thing) the less likely I am to screw up I may look at our setlist and see if I can use the split keyboard better or try using the Live Mode to accomplish what I need. Thanks for the advice - I have been looking at the Stage 4 Compact - I also notice there are more downloadable presets available for that keyboard which would, as a keys novice, help me out a lot - so many buttons though
