Angle Keys Nord piano 5

Post by Emnord87 »

Hi all,

It is normal for the keys of the Nord Piano 5 to have a slight angle? I'm used to an old yamaha, and I'm not used to the modern designs of stage piano's

Chat GPT Gives me the following answer: However I'm keen to verify this with other Nord players:

It's quite normal for some stage pianos, like the Nord Piano 5, to have keys that are slightly angled. This design is meant to enhance the playing experience, making the keys more accessible and providing a better line of sight while playing. You see this in many modern stage pianos, but it can vary by brand and model.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

WIth kind regards,

Emilie

What exactly do you mean by 'angled keys'? There are a lot of portable digital pianos where the keys go a little up to their end (towards you) when the keyboard itself is placed horizontally.

I have no idea why this is - maybe because quite a number of keyboard players play standing up on stage. Then they are more playing from above than in front of the keyboard. Just my imagination.

Just one comment: don’t trust anything coming from Chat GPT …. I asked Chat GPT about myself to test it, it was telling me all kind of bullsh… like I am a politician, activist and so son which I have never been all my life ….

Hi! Yes I mean exactly that -> WIth the nord 5 I feel the keys go a little up to their endwhen the keyboard itself is placed horizontally. I think you can be right! I have to say, I have to get to used to it, as I never played with the 'angled key's before, I feel that I have to adjust my wrist position a little bit:)

I don't think this is the best idea: Don't try to get in trouble with your wrist. My solution was to raise my sitting level to be able to play more from above. Adjusting my chair was the better option in my eyes than adjusting hand or finger position.

Another solution: use some additional foam rubber, silicone or whatever for the back part of your piano stand.
