K&M 18950 or 18953 Piano Nord 5

Hi,

Does anyone has experience with the K&M 18950 or 18953 for the Nord piano 5? I doubt between the two, because of the depth. K&M tells me both should do the trick. However with the 18953 the Nord has more depth than the standThe 18950 has more depth.

THanks!

I like the 18953 much more: fits underneath the Piano 5. There is one single issue: If you need to place your piano on a sloping ground, it's less stable on the 18953. As long as the ground is even, everything is very stable.

I even have my 18953 extended with a second tier and everything is fine.

Same with me. 18953 fits perfectly.

Just to add: You probably know that the feet widen to the bottom. The base of the feet is wider (1055~1200mm, depending on height) and deeper (325~380mm) than the support surface at the top. This helps a lot for stability.

Hay Ziegles, Just one question left, i'm really happy with your advice, however you have the 88-keys version as well of the piano 5? It sounds the 18953 is really stable, even if you play dynamic like salsa piano (even if de depth is only 26 centimers? :thanks:

Even if I‘m not familiar with the dimensions of a nord Piano 88 I‘d like to add my thoughts. I have the k&m 18950 which has the advantage of adjustable width. I have drilled two extra holes in its side bars for the rubber feet of my electro 61, this enables me to put the stand‘s width exactly to the size of my nord which makes the whole rig very stable on stage, even if I play Boogie and Rock‘n‘Roll. You may have a look at my earlier post here:

Good luck and cheers from sunny Germany

There seem to be two different groups of scolars concerning K&M 18950 or 18953. Tasten-Bert and I am not in the same boat in that question - don't worry, both will feature a good solution.

As I said, I use a 2-tier version of the K&M 18953. The lower keyboard is an 88 keys instrument (no Nord Piano, but a Yamaha CP33, 131.2 cm wide, 33 cm deep, 18 kg: about the same weight, even wider than the Nord); the upper is a Nord Stage 3 compact (additional 10 kg).

A big part of the stability of the whole thing is coming from the weight, I think. I just added special rubber pads on the 4 edges that keep the lower keyboard on it's place. Even playing on the upper tier won't make the stand wobble - in fact, it's the least wobbling combination I have: An X stand, of course, will move more; and a K&M Omega will move a little more as well. The 4 legs are the reason, I think.

Thank you su much! This topic becomes more clear :)
Without the 4 rubber patches on the stand, the piano
Did move :)?

Thanks a lot again!

The keyboard is laying on top the stand. Without rubber strips, it would move - that's why there are some adhesive pads enclosed (different style through the years).

The 18950 has holes where you may place the feet of the keyboard into - if you get them fit. I'm not that sure if you can adjust the width of the 18950 in order to fit the feet of an 88 key piano into those holes - Tasten-Bert may tell you.
